Hey guys I have been wanting to make my own forums site for a while now, i'm not advanced enough to code/whatever myself but I was looking into using a site called "sitegrounds.com" to make my own. Looks promising but there are mixed reviews about everything seems like bluehost, hostgator, and sitegrounds are the best choices but i've heard alot of shitty things about bluehost and hostgator.
Feel free to give your input it would be much appreciated.
(p.s. I am not looking to make anything anonymous, more like a gaming forums site that's just chill and not tryhard. Looking to run adsense on it though in hopes of making it self-sustainable and maybe paying for it's own upgrades and cutting me a profit aswell.)

I've always had good luck with domain.com hosting. For forum software check out http://www.simplemachines.org/

I was thinking of just using wordpress or something to make a forums, do you think i'd have better luck with the simplemachines ?

I am not in it for the profit mostly just self-sustainability but I won't lie, if I could make some cash it would help with college books and stuff
You should give more details about what kind of forum/community you are looking to start.

I have zero experience with wordpress, but everything done with it seems rather template-y. SMF is a good traditional style forum that's easy to customize. Anyone who's used a forum before won't have a problem.
Btw I suck penis

More details, mmm okay. I would like to make a gaming forums that people can discuss games on without having to use a moneygrabbing site or the shitty game forums that are clunky and censored. Just a discussion forums that is more of people trying to help each other, make their own guides, make their (clan, faction, party, ect) page on my site, give tips, and just talk. No real point other than meeting other gamers similar to you without having to just randomly find someone

idk what or who said/did that but okay lol

It's definitely well suited for a game forum. I used it for my minecraft community, though everyone seems to prefer posting in the facebook group.

Question, how customizable is simplemachines? Is it able to make something look maybe like this? https://forums.digitalpoint.com/

Can I use pirated minecraft on your server?
>>56217625
Easily, though you'll have to make some theme elements and css yourself.

Nah only premium accounts. Allowing cracked accounts opens a whole can of worms. By worms I mean angry 12 year old skiddies.
