what happened, /g/?
What happen?
What?
Gentoo is literally pointless on any pc built in the last 10 years. Who cares about "bloat" and "useless dependencies" when I have 2 TB left over and 8 GB of RAM to spare?

kys
Funtoo happened :/
Gentoo is still good for learning new stuff about GNU/Linux tho :D

pls
i'd gladly use it, but i'm kinda worried about having to recompile my kernel all the time to add support for things that i didnt originally intend on doing or getting lost somewhere

the wiki died, as did any will to replace it.

This mentality is why Android devices need 4GB RAM to operate properly without freezing every few minutes.

Well anon, I've been at it for good part of the day and I think the issue is in initramfs. The custom ones I build just cause a kernel panic and the tool generated one goes a bit furher but doesn't handle cryptsetup+lvm correctly, but I managed to work around that in the resque shell and got it past that step so there is that.
Now I just need to figure out how to fix this, or just never reboot again. Also considering installing distcc to speed up the emerges still needed to be done

just build everything as a module
>>56214767
This mentality is why Android devices exist and we don't exclusively share server time on a CLI terminal in university anymore.
