Anyone have any /g/ experience on rooting a smartphone?
I'm a complete noob to rooting, been wanting to do it for a while but not at risk of bricking my phone.
I know the processes, been on decent forums. The tech speak is going over my head though, I can't seem to get answers to simple questions.
Does anyone know what apps I can delete from an android/what apps are essential.
Also any advice or experience in rooting.

Rooting is easy -- just flash the root zip. You can delete a lot of stuff -- see >>56206107

I know I can obviously delete the sony bloatware but can I delete all the google play stuff?
>>56206405
yeah
better just don't install them though

they are on the phone and I am not able to uninstall only disable.
It's like buying a new laptop jammed full of bloatware but not being able to reboot windows.

got ya. was looking into firefox open os earlier.
If its a Sony, use flashtool, i think it has an option for root.

Rooting is easy. Nowadays it's just plug your phone into a PC and click "root". You can't mess something up.
You can delete anything you want, including the system necessary components (not recommended). I recommend searching for which apps should be safe to remove from your phone. If you use Google play store, you shouldn't remove it but you can remove other play crap (games, music, newsstand, Google plus)

Don't install CM nor AOSP, you're gonna ruin your fucking camera, audio and battery life. It's not worth it.

Don't delete any system/core apps unless you are absolutely sure. The safer bet is to freeze them so you can reactivate them later.
