Build from scratch is the obvious choice. Cheaper and you'll have more control of where the money goes.

Have worked with the Optiplex series PC's in the school I work for. Absolute shit PC's with shitty cases.

I have no idea why these things have so few 3.5" drive bays with all the empty space inside the case.
I set a spare Optiplex up at work as a NAS and had to just stack the drives on top of each other with a post-it on the case telling people not to move it.

The hospital I work at is flooded with the damn things and by GOD they're shitty.
Sure, the cases look neat, but they have horrid temps and air flow, fuck-all expandability and are expensive if bought new.

These prebuilt dells have some of the most garbage cases, and case guts ever. Sometimes you are forced to spend five minutes trying to figure out how to detatch the HDD cage.
