I keep being told pic related is a good one so im going to buy it. Im really into Gayme Development, but in the end I just want something to market myself so any book thatll help me accomplish that would be awesome. The only language I currently know is Java and Ive been self teaching (Via tutorials) for about 4 months now. I would say Im above a Novice but below a Journeyman. Somewhere in between knowing what I'm doing but not understanding how in the fuck to implement it.

There's Game Programming Patterns or something like that if you search online.

Not sure that I'd recommend the GoF patterns book to someone at your level.

I suspect that it'll be of limited utility to you until you've written enough code to have encountered design challenges that one of the patterns helps solve.

With the exception of "singleton" (which has a poor C++ implementation in that book if I remember correctly -- my copy is on my desk at work, otherwise I'd look), most of the patterns are abstract enough that you might have trouble understanding where to apply them, even if you understand the contrived examples that the book uses to illustrate them.

The GoF book was only helpful to me in that it gave me the vocabulary to describe patterns that I'd seen in code, "discovered" myself, etc. when talking to other software engineers.

If you're interested in game development, I'd suggest doing an online algorithms and data structures tutorial or class.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
