No wonder people prefer Ubuntu and Mint over this garbage.

netinstall? xfceinstall? lxdeinstall? mateinstall? gnomeinstall? kdeinstall?
>unpolished interface
What does this even mean? You didn't like the desktop environment you picked?
>iceweasel
It's Firefox.
>ancient kernel
lts? stable? testing? unstable?
>most user unfriendly distro i've ever tried
Stop distro hopping and learn something so you don't sound foolish.

feel free to compile a different kernel, use testing/experimental for up-to date packages. iceweasel is firefox, but due to licencing i think had to be renamed. a netinstall has no more than 450 packages. install your de manually if you want less of the 'bloat' with it i guess

What if your network driver is not supported by the installer?
>>56198084
I just came here to say this.
Cheers, anon.

There's an iso with firmware included in the website... Did you even bother looking?
>>56201235
What the fuck is that going to solve? There are no open-source drivers for my network interface. I have to install drivers manually to get any network connectivity.

You don’t need to 'manually' install. Just download the non-free firmware pack to use during installation.
Download the current firmware.zip pack for the version you are installing.
Put it on a separate USB (easier if you cba to figure out where to put it on the install USB)
When in the install wizard you are asked if you want to install non-free drivers from removable media, plug in and press yes.
