Linux is free, comes in a lot different packages and is very suitable for people who have a IT related job.

Windows has a lot of programs going for it, it's used a lot in the graphical industry ( printing, designing, etc. ) and is in general capable of getting shit done on all fields, including entertainment.

-"standardised" interface, majority of people can handle Windows because it's used on over 70% devices
-very large number of users, you can troubleshoot your problems on forums because it's easy to find someone with the same problems

Linux:
-lighter, requires less resources
-is actually more secure
-you gain full control of it, instead of shit being forced on you
-comes in many different "flavours" each with their own pros and purposes
-supports older hardware, can run on anything and lots of distros run out of the box without installing drivers
-can completely customise it to your purposes and visual liking
-completely free, you don't have to pirate it
-easy package installation
-when something breaks on Windows linux is literally the go to tool to check and analyse what's wrong
