Moto G 2014 back in the same year, and only because my Dell Mini 10 had dieded (finally, fuck poulsbo) and I needed an email terminal nearby. Still going good, and still have my Nokia 5310 in my second line.

I have never and will never own one of those piles of fucking garbage. Funny how people voluntarily pay fucking money for what is essentially a goddamn government-backed tracking chip so you can use the internet using poorly done apps to replace a browser because using a real browser sucks on shitphones with a shitty OS with no good features using a shitty, inaccurate as living fuck touchscreen.

Dumbfucks.

At $190, the display, the speed, slim size that got praised by a lot of friends/relatives, tho a little behind at build-quality, it still works nice.

Nokia 5230

What a piece of shit. 128MB ram, prehistoric camera, resistive screen, really limited internal memory with no proper way to transfer apps to the SD card.
Shit battery. I ran out of battery merely listening to music over 9 hours of work. That's in flight mode to save battery. Nowadays I'd be at 90% after that maybe.

There really were no redeeming factors for this shitty brick. I was so happy when I got my next smartphone, which happened to be a chinkphone.

Oh yeah, SymbianOS was total trash, haven't seen a phone with so few customization option since. Thank god it died.

Smartphone.

S60 had support for applications written in Java, C and Carbide. The n95 had a gimped E90 cpu so a lot of apps performed poorly.

Nokia was also too lazy to make a proper appstore out of "Download!" and the only way to get apps was via shady forums or the dev websites themselves.

Xperia U

Small as shit. I ordered it with a cheap as shit contract online and sort of assumed it would be big enough because it was 3.5" (I had a 3.5" ipod touch, which has a better aspect ratio). Not horrible though because it had a decent resolution at the time and it was pretty fast for the money.

I think two years later I got my current phone, the lg g2. Only complaint is no sd card slot desu. Size is pretty good, but I feel like it would be way comfier to have a huge screen so my next phone is the Xiaomi mi max.

Should be coming next week. Along with a shark meme.

This thing was a revelation to me.

I wanted a smart phone for a long time but there did not exist a perfect one. Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung all made phones with nice specs and high resolution screens but OS that were pretty badly optimized for touch screens like Symbian or Windows Mobile 6. Android looked better but all the phones had low resolution screens and Android wasn't very fluid yet if I recall correctly. The Palm Pre with Web OS looked really good but the screen was too low res. Well the iPhone 3GS looked great with that fluid and perfectly touch optimized UI but the screen was awful. 480x320 TN panel when 640x and 800x were the norm.

Well the iPhone 4 just seemed like what I waited for so long. Fluid iOS with finally a high res screen. Even higher than any other phone on the market: 940x640. The Unreal Engine demo on it just amazed me. I loved that phone so much. I got a case for it straight away so the "holding it wrong" problem never happened to me.

Not everyone bought smartphones the second they hit the market. I used a slider phone from 2009 up until last year when I got an LG Ultimate 2. Only bought it because I was graduating college and realized it would be easier to keep after e-mail if I had a smartphone. The hinge was fun as hell.
Keyboard was great for emulators.
The thing was built like a brick (and weighed just as much).
Development scene was great too, it was even running a port of sense from the One X a couple years later

It was an LG Optimus S, all the way back in fucking 2010.

The thing was underpowered, cheap, and had a screen size for ants, but it was a spunky little thing that could kind of do whatever I needed it to and handled any physical abuse my angsty teenage self threw at it. It was a huge step up from the iPod Touch in terms of actually being able to fucking do things like downloading files and running word processors. I switched out the default launcher for LaunchePro to try and squeeze extra power out of it, and I was using that same hilariously outdated launcher across upgrades until I got my newest phone just this month. I've also been using the exact same live wallpaper, too.
I also played Mother 3 to completion exclusively on it.
A shame LG discontinued the line. It struck me as a great budget-to-midrange smartphone. At least I still have the thing.

I have. It's too fucking small. Needs to be an inch wider.

I do have oversized hands. But that doesn't matter. Horizontal layout is objectively superior. More comfily spaced keys. Phone center of gravity closer to your hands, making it way easier to hold and balance.

Ever tried laying down on your back and using a Priv above your head? It fucking sucks

Horizontal layout is ass. Too wide on newer phones and you can't type one handed.
>Ever tried laying down on your back and using a Priv above your head
I've never used the Priv outside of a store. Android doesn't belong on BlackBerries. Lying down and using my Q10 works great though.

>>56205101
Portrait keyboards are better because you can type one handed. Especially on phones like the Priv the keyboard would be ridiculously wide if it was landscape too.

This
>>

That's fucking stupid.

With a horizontal phone you can hold it securely with no fingers at all.
>>
>>56205136

That's because a Q10 is wider and therefore has a much more reasonably sized keyboard.

I've been thinking of getting that instead, anyways. Now that I'm older and have a job I don't ever use any Android shit other than messaging and mail.

>Portrait keyboards are better because you can type one handed.

I was using a Samsung D900 from it's launch up until 2012 when I took the plunge and bought a Galaxy S3 after the D900 finally tapped out (it had been through a lot, water damage, drops, even fell from a roof), anyway, the S3 was okay. Dropped it once after 2 years and the screen broke, didn't wanna pay for a new screen so I bought some shitty phone (Micromax Canvas 4) which I am currently posting from.

Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch

It was terrible since the day I bought it. It was actually running Gingerbread when I bought it in mid 2012 and it got one update the nearly 2 years I owned it. After about a year of having it the lock button would stop working randomly for days at a time so I couldn't even use it without someone calling or messaging me to wake the screen. If I really needed to use it I had to either plug it in or take the battery out and put it back in to restart the phone. It would get super hot and the battery would go from 100% to 20% in like 3 hours of hardly using it at all. The GPS stopped working entirely after about a year. Also if I ever tried to take a picture, regardless of the application I was using, it would restart the phone like 1 out of 8 times, so taking a picture was like playing Russian roulette. But hey I could watch porn on it so all is forgiven.

HTC Diamond, it was pretty cool for a window mobile 6.1 phone. You could even run Android on it at one point.

you could get a really bulky protective case; would add to the weight of a new phone and make it more durable; win/win

LG Ally
Had it for a few years then got an iPhone 5 brand new. Now have an iPhone 6s. I would probably still be using the 5 if the battery didn't go to shit, it was such a great phone.
>>
>>56198143
Same, i didn't get a smartphone until i was 18. Before that i used one of those boost phones with the push to connect, cause I'm an autist.

Personally i'm hoping apple keeps releasing an iphone se every few years with the 5/5s design; but upgraded parts so I can keep using the best phone design of all time forever

I fucking hated this phone. Slow as fuck, ugly UI and bullshit Wimax 4G
>>

>download .jar games from mobile9

I used to do that shit all the time with my old dumbphone, but since it only had a shitty internal memory of 15mb or a bit more, i could only install games that were exactly below the 251kb threshold when it came to size.

Finding one that lasted more than half an hour and wasn't a random game like sudoku or something was a fucking God-send.

RIP in piece ;_;7
>>
>>56209154
Probably the opposite... shopped the screen image onto the photo of the phone.

>>56210800
the HTC software additions were kind of funny

>>56212280
yeah, these were badass. the UI looked so cool too.
>>
>>56204041
It's awesome. It gets a tad hot when charging (or in hot weather) and slows down quite a bit, but it's expected. it's not painful or anything. It may just be my unit, but the glass is ever so slightly warped across the screen so you can see light bend when you look at it right. Has no effect on usability. Moto display is amazing. The camera gesture is perfect. Chop chop is slow sometimes (and sometimes a rogue app holds onto the camera and prevents it from working). 10/10 phone. I traditionally keep phones for only a year because I'm enthusiastic about new stuff but I plan on keeping this for 2 or more if it holds up (I expect it to). Best phone ever.
>>
Samsung Galaxy Y I think
>>
First smartphone was the Moto Q, but I only had it for a couple of months before I upgraded.
First smartphone that I used for an extended period of time was the Moto Q9c.
First Android phone was the HTC Hero.

LG Optimus. It was a nice phone for the price, and I still have it somewhere

Anyone finds it crazy how just in 5 years we've come from pieces of shits like this which would have cost like 600 dollars to chink phones that look and performer 50x better and cost about 100?

Technology is a wonder to behold.

Still have these two bad boys, the n93 is still working fine but the n-gage is dead. Back then phones with symbian and some old version of windows mobile like the SPV's were considered smartphones.

Now i use some poorfag tier xperia M with jelly bean 4.3 which i used to take the photo.
