I think the idea is that they're hybrid blimp-planes, leaning more towards blimp.
The body/fins generate lift in forward motion in addition to buoyancy derived from the helium.
Short takeoff/landing distances can make for good freight hauling coupled with these things, but it's still a blimp. There are a variety of applications.

Who the fuck designed this things propulsion systems? Doesn't look like it will produce enough forward thrust from the rear props to maintain level with the forward control props.
>>
So this is just two blimps glued together yah?

Probably someone who knows a hell of a lot more about airships than you do
>>
>>56186337
Of course you'd know better than the guy who designed it.

If the aircraft itself is balanced, the location of thrust isn't as important as it might otherwise be.

And most blimps are balanced quite evenly.

As long as there were luxurious interiors and you could walk around I'd say why not. Fuck the flying sardine can.

because most travellers have things to do and places to be. Honestly if you're not in a rush just take a ferry everywhere, its much more comfy

airships are the best way to travel.
>le Steampunk false-nostalgia intensifies

No, but really. Airships are cool. Steampunk is cool. Victorian chicks wearing goggles, with homemade guns strapped to their legs/boots are cool.

You see what I'm saying?
>>
>>56188956

GOLD STAR FAMILY
>>
>>56189148
Funny thing is, aside from a few small experiments there were really no airships during the victorian "steam" era.

They mostly came about during what would considered the "diesel punk" era.

Then again i see steampunk ray guns so, whatever the fuck.
>>
>>56184030
Sounds cool. Can't wait till they start using these for people who want to kill themselves
>>
How long would it take one of these things to cross the Atlantic? Any hope of cheaper, yet longer, air travel?
>>
>>56184161
Very little fuel used whilst transporting very heavy gear and vehicles, you could probably fit quite a few tanks inside
>>
>>56186530

That's probably not what happened. However, not doing a proper vibration analysis is what fucked them. Those choppers were all probably rotating at the same frequency causing harmonization. I blame the engineer(s) for not thinking that one out.

Also, what you just described is most commercial air planes. Fragile aluminum frame held together by a thin aluminum skin riveted on.
