>>56174991
Not sure why you'd make the SD card the default storage location, puts a strain on the card, it's better to use the card specifically for other media, at least, impo anyway. Should you choose to take my suggestion into consideration, then, you won't need anything more than 16 GB internal. Otherwise, to answer your question, probably 32 GB internal.
>>
In US using boost mobile
Looking for at least 3GB RAM, decent CPU, and 32-64GB internal and microSD slot
At least 1080p screen but it doesn't need to be higher
Don't care about camera/microphone/speaker quality
Would prefer physical buttons on the bottom bar
Budget of around 200 maybe a little higher

thanks in advance
>>
>>56174991
You will probably never even run into problems with 16 GB phones without a mSD-slot. People that complain about storage are usually autismos
>>
>>56175025
Thanks for the info AND the semen demon.

Hardware longevity is my main concern. Are you suggesting that using batteries for a long time may damage the hardware itself aside from the battery?

>>56175051
Obviously for storage concerns and to avoid paying a premium for internal storage.

I don't get this. You mean 16 GB internal if I don't use the SD card as internal storage and 32 GB if I do?
>>
>>56175222
using batteries for a long time wont damage the hardware itself, it will result in a reduction of the batteries capacity. So you should get a few replacement batteries on the side.

My phone, until it died, had 8 GB of storage and ran into these problems sometimes.

What about this? I root it, as expected, I make a partition in the SD card for apps and move there the ones that don't require a lot of speed or are rarely used.

This way I can get a 8 GB phone instead of a 16 GB one. Yes, I'm on a budget.

http://www.howtogeek.com/114667/how-to-install-android-apps-to-the-sd-card-by-default-move-almost-any-app-to-the-sd-card/

>>56175251
Ok. I was worried the battery could havekilled the phone. That would be a dark world to live in.
>>
>>56175222
>Are you suggesting that using batteries for a long time may damage the hardware itself aside from the battery?

No, no damage to the rest of the hardware. But outside of dropping it and shattering the screen like a retard, the battery is what starts to go on a phone first of all. And we have reached a point where the processor and RAM on even a mid-range phone today should be good for a few years so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Thus, for hardware longevity, a replaceable battery is probably the most useful thing.

I fell asleep one night and woke up with my phone underneath me. The screen had a vertical green line on the left side. It also began to flicker. I charged my phone and the screen was brightened. It was still noticeably dim. I put my phone in some rice overnight, and it did nothing. I took it to an AT&T specialist and they determined that some wires might be disconnected. They ordered a replacement for me and I mailed the phone to AT&T. AT&T mailed the phone back, stating that the phone was water damaged and I had to pay over $700 to cover the cost of the phone. Can I repair my phone? If not, what are my options? Here is a link for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k_zMRZZpyg

It also loves to overheat and give me ghost touches. Granted my phone is rooted but I never had these problems with my old one plus one. It sucks because the phone is absolutely beautiful and I love the screen. Idk what to do now. Might just sell it but I'll be lucky to get £300 for it and my contract will still be 50 fucking pounds for 19 months. What would you guys do in my situation?

LG isn't the most incapable company in existence - they create great products but it's almost like the MS cycle with them = build something great (G3) and then screw up the next gen or 2 with dumb ideas (modules). They are @ times a good major brand competitor to Samsung but they keep shooting themselves with half-baked ideas and design changes instead of keep with what works and making sure any major changes they make are actually solid before releasing it.

Anyone know if the international Galaxy S7 Edge has any problems in the US on t-mobile? willmyphonework says it'll be perfect but I saw some other site mention it might only have partial support on 3G. And would GPS have any problems?

>>
>>56178265

I hope your are being hyperbolic with that statement - having a phone to last another decade isn't really possible unless you're only doing basic smartphone functions and even then, not having the OS support 3 cycles+ later will cripple any phone's usability.

Like most people are saying, stay clear of LG's latest phones available except for the upcoming V20 which MAY be a safe bet.

Samsung is the market favorite Android device in the sense of being so widely used but in my experience the Galaxy line doesn't hold up after 2 years (Notes seem to fair better).

Apple - pretty solid but they kill their own older phones with OS updates that cripple them causing people to have to upgrade.

Nexus devices seem to hold up better due to being Google designed phones but are kinda clunky in a few areas.

Everyone else - IDK.

Not an expert here but that's my opinion on what's available now.

Expandable storage, camera, display, and the thing is just beautiful. Such a well designed phone. Although getting a screen protector to properly fit with the edges and a case is a pain in the ass (yes even with "case friendly" screen protectors. Motorola's previous phones provided a smooth experience despite their limited specifications, and the Moto G4 and G4 Plus are significantly jankier throughout the UI, with even the simplest of ListViews stuttering at times. This is most certainly an issue of software rather than hardware, and stability issues with tests like PCMark battery don't inspire any confidence in the Moto G4's software quality either.

I'd do a little more research next time and not care too much about the aesthetics of a phone. Imo the looks should be last on your list of priorities.
Its well known that the s7e is far from shatterproof. Its also well known that a screen replacement is ridiculously expensive.
Hard to give you advice since we dont know whats important to you
>>
Phones ahould stop working if they do not have a valid sim card or if you have not paid your bill and had the service shut off and yhere should be a hefty 90 percent luxury tax on both phones and service for phones that is illigal to list in advertised prices

This should clear up most of the issues with phones and help fix the countries defecit

i've decided on the RN3.

that shit is too good to give up.
>>

Rn4 comes out for little bit more in price here in couple months
>>
>>56184017
yeah i thought about it.

do you think it'll be as well received as the RN3 was? hearing that RN4 will be announced in Sep.
also, will RN3 have Nougat? some ppl speculating yes, but it sounds hopeful, since Redmi isn't Xiaomi's flagship line
>>
repostan; advice please

Must have:
Good camera
Decent battery life (a whole day with light usage, at least up to lunchtime with extreme usage)
4G

Nice to have:
Removable battery
Custom ROM (ability & availability)
5" screen, or larger but with one-handed mode option
SD card slot or more than 16GB storage
Natural display color (My biggest reservation with the Note 4 is the AMOLED screen. I despised the colors in Galaxy S2/S3, but recently I saw a friend's S6 and it doesn't seem so bad, so I'm gonna look into it more closely.)

I used Kimovil and it seems my choice is between Samsung Note 4 or LG G4. Alternatively, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 but I'm less confident in how it'll fare 2 years from now, basing on my experience with the Mi4.

people still going for this? thought the bootloops turned people off... :\
>>
>>56184251
I just read the OP article and... bummer. Family had good experiences with the G2 and L9 in the past so I've never seen LG in a bad light, but the bootloop issue sounds bad.

Couldn't OnePlus follow the trend and make a 5,2'' screen phone with the same specs?

This shit is almost as big as a Note 7!

Thanks for the info.

One thing I forgot to say is that I really want something with a gyroscope to mess with phone vr. I noticed none of the suggested phones have it.

Is there any phone in $100 range that has at least 720p screen and a gyroscope?

Thanks for any tips.

Do some anon know about the modular phones? Like project ARA, or Phonebloks, or Motorola last model (I think it is motorola)

OnePlus 3 in my opinion.

Best performance because SD820 with 1080p display.

Best OS, it's like stock Android with neat customization options.

The Axon 7 has better hardware but the OS looks like shit.
>>
>>56186892

For the price, Axon 7 hands down.
>>
>>56183842

I just picked one up yesterday and I'm loving the fuck out of it so far. The stylo 2 plus has a 5.7" 1080p screen and it's magnificent. 2GB ram is plenty for general browsing and decent amounts of app usage. You could do better on the 199.99 though, I got mine for 129.99 throught metro. Fuck what the haters say, this phone is bomb diggity.

And price. It goes for like $350 in mint condition. The HTC 10, which you can barely find for its real value, used to go for $100 more, and the Galaxy S7 another $100 more over the HTC 10. If you want an okayish flagship for $350 the LG G5 is the best option.

>>
hold me, /g/. I've despised samsung for their laggy and shitty touchwiz since s3 was so shit, compared to s2, but now I'm seriously considering getting a note 4/5/7.

I've always rooted and installed custom roms, but I think I'd be ready to try living without root for a while in order to use android pay.

I'll wait for the next nexuses, though, first.

But that I'm even considering bloatware samsung makes me question myself.
>>
>>56188624
I hear touchwiz has improved since older versions, was crap on my S4
at least with it's themes you can make it look like stock now
>>
>>56188624
Samsung does not support their own hardware. If you're fine with relying on the community for updates, then go ahead and get a Samsung. Otherwise get something with actual support.

Any thoughts? I kind of want the s-pen, but the edge felt a little awkward on the demo unit. I like the waterproofing on the Z5P but it certainly isn't necessary.

> increase longevity

That's kind of my concern, actually. The Edge is a late 2014 device, the Z5P is a year newer. How long would they each get update support?
If I trade in my 5S, I'll essentially be getting either of the two for free. So on the other hand, I won't really care about longevity because these don't feel like major investments. I've wanted to get rid of this 5S for a while, that's the main reason I'm switching.

>>56189769
Yeah, I don't understand how these sales work. I've seen a used Edge for this category go for about ¥40,000 ($400), so ¥18,000 ($180) seems crazy. Of course, I need to get a contract but I'd have to do that anyway.
