The redmi pro with the x25 doesnt look bad but how are the chances to get cm on a mediatek processor?
Import costs will push the price up to a 70€ difference between this and the v10 (excluding the battery) so it doesn't look worth getting chink software support.

On Kimovil choose location somewhere in Europe if you want an option for euro stock (recommended).

I am thinking to buy samsung galaxy s7 for 370euro. Should I go for it?
>>
>>56156050
Hells yeah. I just replaced my Note 4's battery after 2 years of solid service. I would have been fucked if I was using one of these newer non-replaceable-battery phones.

I will be keeping my Note 4 until Samsung realises the error of their ways and brings back replacable batteries. I know that will probably never happen, and in that case I will buy another Note 4 if my one ever fails or breaks. However, I will give Samsung some time, sometimes stupid corporations make bad decisions trying to copy shit phones like the iPhone. They realised their mistake with the SD card, maybe they will realise the battery mistake as well.

Note 4 masterrace is still the best phone avaialble in the entire market in 2016. (Probably 2017 too)
>>
>>56156694
I never understood how you could spend so much money on an attractive phone whose one main feature is 'premium', 'thin', and 'sexy', and then hide it in what amounts to the Burqa of the phone world....

Why spend so much money on a nice phone to encase it in so much bulk and ugliness that you might as well spend a fraction of the cost and get a Samsung Active or other phones that will get as 'tough' as you require.

Cubot Note S - first impressions/Mini review (sorry for shitty english)
I bought it chinkphone due to my SGS2 dying, the main reason to buy it was that this phone was the cheapest one with 5.5 inch screen and 2gb of ram in my country (about 100$).

With the phone you get the basic things like quick start guide, usb cable and charging brick plus case and pre-installed screen protector

The phone is mainly made with soft, smooth plastic, bezel is... Well, meh, it's metal but easy to be mistaken for plastic... But what matters is that the phone seems to be made using a good plastic - it doesn't make any unpleasant cracks while touching or pressing it. It's also a bit heavy due to big battery, but i don't take it as a bad thing - i like when phone has its weight

The rear cover is removable, under it you find two sim card slots and one microSD card slot

Phone runs Android 5.1. I cannot really tell about it's performance in it because flashing Android 6.0 was the first thing i did. All i can tell is that it has installed custom launcher and clean master. Also, trying to flash TWRP on this phone with installed 5.1 makes the screen in recovery unresponsive. this bug doesn't appear in TWRP installed in 6.0 though

Anyway, in 6.0 this phone works wonderfully. since i got it i didn't suffered any lags or other problems

The most notice thing that you can see in that phone is big battery - 4150 mah, and it does good to this phone, it can easily stay a day of normal usage and few hours of playing games/anything other heavy

And yes, games. Mediatek 6850 does decend job at running games, in GTA san andreas it handles stable 30fps on high settings with classic shadows

Now, they are few bad things - Lack of LTE, Meh quality speaker but the worst thing in it is Terrible camera - if you want to make a photos without a good light, good luck for you.
Still. This phone costed me around 100$, so i can't really complain about it
tl;dr its a great low budget phone

I'm unsure if MTKLogger is a vital system application or not, it seems to dump debug info into a root folder named after itself.

RebootAndWriteSys
GoogleOtaSysOper.apk
com.mediatek.googleota.sysoper

RebootAndWriteSys
SystemUpdateAssistant.apk
com.mediatek.systemupdate.sysoper
Another strange application, apparently linked to
updating OTA, has access to every single permission on the device, I've decided to freeze it.

FactoryMode
/system/app/FactoryMode.apk
mobile.miki

I froze it, seems to be irrelevant to factory reset.
Any other suggestions than rm -rf?

What are the current best advice for a rugged waterproof phone?

I got an Samsung Xcover 3 (first version), but that was some time ago, and I'm curious about new options.

Also, are the sliding keyboard phones still a thing? I mean like Xperia Pro? Man that phone was awesome.

For the anon who bricked his Redmi 3s in the last thread:

Push all three buttons (to get the phone animation) and then connect to PC - Go to Fastboot Mode (Volume- and Power) - type "fastboot oem edl" into Minimal ADB/Fastboot command window to get into EDL mode - flash again like in the wiki but with MiFlashBeta.

That should do it.

>yeah, at the end of the day, samsung makes the best phones.

Right because completely sealed up practically un-repairable phones with glass backs that pretty much require a case to be used is totally the pinnacle of mobile phone design. Let's not forget all the stupid shit that Samsung firmware has different from stock Android that causes app crashes for apps that work fine on any other brand of Android phone. Job descriptions for development literally mention wanting experience with fixing Samsung-related problems. Samsung is almost single-handily responsible for Android's reputation of being laggy, unstable, unreliable, etc, etc.

>you can pretend to be autist with your nexus phone like having the freshest image of android from factory really means anything

Yeah I mean who the hell wants to be up-to-date with the latest features and security patches? LMAO, Samsung apologists are just as bad as iPhone fanboys.

S7 Review I bought the Verizon S7 regular version since I'm stuck with Verizon now. Might switch to the 6P I got a week left to decide on this. I've been using it for a few days now.

I'm going to list cons that I fel tthat bothered me.
- Almost impossible to find a reliable tapered glass screen case so if you're prone to dropping it you'll have to rely on a good bulky case.
- If you enable fingerprint scanning for the lock screen then the clock widget that you added won't show up on the lock screen. Seems to show when you use pattern or a code lock.
- Idle drain I tested could be much better. I slept for 6 hours last night and it drained the battery by 5%. I tinkered so much shit and I expected it to last 2-4% only for a span of 8-10 hours if left idle, sadly that was not the case.
- BLOATWARE
- Locked Bootloader means no roms and garbage customization!
- Phone seems super fragile so you got to care for it like a baby. I don't think I've been so scared to drop a phone in my life before. The front part (glass) is probably the most fragile thing about the phone

Pros
- Performance is buttery smooth, fastest i've ever used even against great phones that have roms loaded.
- Battery life is superb so far, I'd consistently got 6-8 hours SOT. Keep in mind that I froze a lot of the bloatware. Had GPS off, had mobile data off when I was using wi-fi. I did pretty much every option to lengthen my battery life.
- Display is super crisp, no tint and RGB display is pretty accurate.

I'm still honestly on the fence. Either keeping this or swapping to the 6P. Man I miss Adaway and Xposed Installer. I'd get the Note 7 but I'm sure that will have a locked bootloader as well..

>>
>>56166302
I recently got mine.
It moves like a damn miracle. There is no dispute whether it's good as hardware specs. I played with an S7 in a phone shop and performance wise there is almost no difference.

The build is pretty good, which I was skeptical about. It feels like an iPhone 6 (which I believe have great design).

Battery life is more than decent for me. 2 days of constantly playing with it got me to 45%, and then it took 1hour to charge it back to full.

As for Android support... I guess it's just a matter of time. Worst case scenario, I would resort to AOSP or CM and the community. It won't void the warranty either.

I recently replaced the battery on my 2-year-old non-replaceable-battery phone, in an unofficial service centre.

It fucking sucks. I couldn't use my old battery because it's already so swollen it removes the back cover of my phone. But even then, the original battery could still hold a charge from 6am to 7pm. With the supposedly new battery, I have to find a charger as early as 10am.

So now a Note 4 seems like an interesting option.

I think marshmallow supports it natively, but since MIU is missing other marshmallow features it might not.

I'm not sure which Xiaomi phone to get. I don't really play games, so I don't need it to be too powerful. I just need to know which models to avoid.

Keep in mind that aliexpress ships from Hong Kong, and depending on where you live you might have to pay import fees

Damn, you guys are lucky. There must be tons of people with chink phones in Australia.
>>
>>56174005
Logically that should be the case. For some that doesn't seem to be. Most people are unaware I suppose.
>>
>>56174005
Sure but that $136 USD Redmi is 180 $AUS so you still pay more / pay what Europeans pay in customs tax.
>>
>>56173605
Thanks, I tested it. It works but the latency is quite high (like 300ms+). Is there any way to improve it?

>Moto X Play (my current phone, feels so good to be battery life master race. At home on wifi I can get 10 hours SOT over 2 days, or 13 hours in one day. On a work day (mobile data all day, a bit of GPS etc), I can get 8 hours SOT. But of course I don't actually use it so much at work. I never come home with it under 50%.)

or...if you can stretch it a bit further and find a good deal...

>LG G4 + a ZEROLEMON BATTERY. It'll be a gigantic brick but you could get 3 day battery life.
>>
>>56173908
Must have:
Good camera
Decent battery life (a whole day with light usage, at least up to lunchtime with extreme usage)
4G

Nice to have:
Custom ROM (ability & availability)
5" screen, or larger but with one-handed mode option
32GB storage or higher
Natural display color (My biggest reservation with the Note 4 is the AMOLED screen. I despised the colors in Galaxy S2/S3, but recently I saw a friend's S6 and it doesn't seem so bad, so I'm gonna look into it more closely.)

I don't play games and rarely play video. Mostly for browsing, messaging, syncing mail, taking photos, listening to music, and specific app stuff like banking & ordering food.

Anyone know if the international Galaxy S7 Edge has any problems in the US on t-mobile? willmyphonework says it'll be perfect but I saw some other site mention it might only have partial support on 3G. And would GPS have any problems?

It goes for like $220 on average here in the US.
