Learn Bash, it'll come in handy. Might also get you a job if you lurk further
sudo apt-get install screenfetch
or something like that
Install gento-

Get rid of your desktop gui.
Do everything from command line.

You done goofed. Should have looked at one of these:
>PCLinuxOS
>Devuan
>Slackware
>Gentoo (no meme)
Install a better desktop environment
Screenfetch & anime

No.

There is a reason why Ubuntu/Debain/Arch/OpenSuse/Fedora/RHEL/CentOS/Mint/Manjaro/Antergos are used by actual people

Fixed, and yes.
>>56170351
What kind of job would that get?
>have to learn bash for uni class
it seems pretty basic to me
>>56170658
Mostly sys admin. Also if your Resume is good you get jobs in DBMS
>>56170702
>48-90k per year
I'm already looking at more than that in C++ or even Java development, hell even being a web dev pays more.
I've only heard of horror stories from sys admins as well so my question is: What are the perks?
>>56170811
Not him, but it's a way for non-programmers to work a technical job.
>>56170824
oh, well I guess it's still not bad to have bash under my belt
>>56170811
>programmers
Funny way to say NEETs. Pajeets took over
>>56170811
>pajeet horror stories
sysadmins and netadmins have easy careers that pay well
even easier then programming because most of your competition sucks

Open the terminal and typeman introto get a very basic introduction to using the command line and tips on how to learn more.
>>56170811
>Java development,
You can't beat the sheer number of prajeets
>>56170843
They really didn't unless you're a really shit programmer, Pajeet brings in more clients willing to pay more because he fucked them with shit quality. Thanks Pajeet.
When this meme will die I'll never know
>>56170858
>man intro
And what is intro itself?
>>56170891
It's not actually a command, each section of the manual has a page of introduction. So man intro or man 1 intro is the introduction to section 1 (user commands), man 2 intro is the intro to section 2 (system calls), etc.
Install gentoo
>>56170471
bourne again shell
>>56170344
press ctrl-shift-t to open a terminal and paste this:
sudo apt-get install mpv redshift unity-tweak-tool
then google "redshift config ubuntu" it's like f.lux but for linux
mpv is the best media player for videos, you can config that too to enable hardware decoding and other cool stuff
>>56170370
litterally new guy, and (You) try to be as dick as you can. Which part of newbie don't you understand to propose Slackware and even gentoo, when he has no idea of Linux? (oh sorry it's GNU/Linux for you fuckin sperg)
scripts
xfce
bash
if you want using it don't doing strange thinks
rm -rf /*
>>56170344
put the system monitor in the sidebar - you may want to monitor your system and perhaps kill some processes in a gui instead of using the terminal (kill command).
>>56170351
>job just with bash
lel

You don't know how to read, do you? No wonder you are a NEET.
>>56170344rm -rf /
Now install Mint

no OP, you are good with ubuntu
>>56175054
But you forgot to su, you faggot
>>56170508
Don't try to learn Bash on W10. It's heavily underpowered. (i.e. You can't access your tty devices.)
>>56170344
go through the book "The Linux Command line". You can get it for free online.

Let us know next weekend when you uninstall it and went back to windows because installing one application on linux its a 4 step process.
>>56170344
remove it and install lubuntu
>>56175179
Windows:
>Goes to browser
>Searches application
>Downloads exe
>Runs exe
>Chooses express and gets shitty bundled software or
>Chooses custom and has to manually deselect all of the bloatware
Ubuntu:
>Opens terminal
>apt-get update && apt-get install $PACKAGE
Or...
>Opens Software Center
>Searches for package
>Installs package
Come on, tell me that wasn't easier.
OP, don't listen to any of the autists on here that want you to install their favourite DE. Just stick with Unity and learn how to install programs, set up the system. Then find out how to change the GTK theme and icon set with Unity Tweak Tool. I recommend flatabulous as GTK theme and paper as icon set Then you'll have your Unity look nice and clean and you can get to installing the programs which you usually use.
Generally, it's easy to figure out how to install them if you just google "Spotify Linux" or "Spotify Ubuntu" or any other programme for that matter.
>>56175161
>sudo su - instead of sudo -s or sudo -i
lmao @ you pleb.
