PS3 yellow/red light of death....any non-bullshit means of fixing? Literally haven't touched it in weeks and now this...

or send it off to have the bga reballed for a more permanent fix

Are you sure it actually has the YLOD?
Often the filesystem will become corrupted, it'll beep and blink yellow, and then turn off. Starting it 3-5 times works. Just rebuild the filesystem if it does this by entering safe mode or whatever.
If not, then you'll need to take it apart, replace thermal paste, and hope it works.

the whole heating/resoldering thing i hear is hit or miss...and like 75% miss. any other options? how much do u think that would cost to send out? it's a first gen fat

yea, yellow light, 3 beeps then blinking red. so thermal paste on CPU?

I don't know anon, I baked mine and it worked, eventually I bought a super slim. You'd have to contact someone and ask about pricing.
There's tons of guides online if you're scared about baking it.

Did you even read my post? Often it'll fake the YLOD because the hard drive's file system is kill.
Start it up like 5 times, it might not actually have a YLOD. Mine did the same damn thing 3 years ago, rebuild FS, and works fine 7+ years in service.

yes i read your post and im telling you it's ylod...i don't know what you mean by file system is kill but i can't even get it into safe mode. tried booting up like 10 times now
