I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

I am giving up on this player, performance has been rather shit lately.

Couldn't even play a video with smooth-motion earlier, but it worked fine.

I don't even get it anymore.

But can it support MP7?

MPV is really nice, I like how it can almost match the picture quality of MPC-HC, but doesn't stutter or lag at all. The only issues I have with MPV is the fact that almost nobody who has a good config for MPV shares it, where as MPC-HC has quality guides all over the internet. Google "best quality mpv config" and you will find a bunch of fucking nothing, Google "best quality mpc-hc" and thousands of guides and tutorials will show up teaching you all about the features of Madvr, LAV filters, Haati, XY Sub filters, ect, ect...

I've seen such cool things done with MPV, but don't even know where to start as far as configuring the damn thing to look good. I've even seen people get it hooked into Firefox and use it as their HTML5 player for most streaming sites. It massively sucks that I can't find just one guide on how to do this, let alone doing this for Windows instead of Linux...
>>
>>56166211
if you want to watch online videos on mpv instead of html5, you'll need to download youtube-dl and put it the same folder as mpv, then go to your mpv.conf and put
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height=1080]+bestaudio/best
change "height=1080" to whatever resolution you want. then download "open with" extension for firefox and have it open mpv.

That's because mpv doesn't need any of that shit. It's simple and easy, by just writing a few words on a config file you get the same quality as installing a bunch of shit for MPC-HC, not to mention all the configuration that it needs

You just need to copy paste text into a config file

how come the sharp shaders dont work on the latest windows build but do on whatever one i have downloaded for months? getting a white screen

vo=opengl-hq:interpolation:tscale=linear:scale=ewa_lanczossharp:cscale=ewa_lanczossoft:dscale-param2=1.5:scale-antiring=0.8:pre-shaders="~~/ToYUV.glsl,~~/RemoveGrain11.glsl,~~/RemoveGrain4.glsl,~~/FineSharpA.glsl,~~/FineSharpB.glsl,~~/FineSharpC.glsl"

also what is this line for, dont remember why i added it

af=drc,normalize=no
>>
wait what
>https://gist.github.com/igv/a9a21ad1f6dd7d0b4452
what the heck happened to this script, where did all the removegrain.glsl and such go? i guess he transformed them all into a single file? i wonder if the quality remains...

I've tried all the different -vo options in this thread, and also a few I found through google, but there is literally no difference on my mpv. I don't mean that there is no 'noticeable' difference, I mean that not a single pixel changes, regardless of using vo=opengl-hq or not, or any different shader settings. What am I doing wrong?

On windows, using the build from the first link in the OP.

>The only issues I have with MPV is the fact that almost nobody who has a good config for MPV shares it, where as MPC-HC has quality guides all over the internet
There's this thing in mpv called the manual that actually explains pretty much everything on the user side
madVR and all the other DS mess lack this, that's why you find so many guides for them
>>
>>56169487
>What am I doing wrong?
Wrong syntax or borked drivers, share your config here so anons can correct it
Otherwise start mpv in the command line and look for errors and warnings

No errors or warnings
My config is pretty basic,
http://pastebin.com/RV0NGwnP
You can substitute vo=opengl-hq for pretty much anything, as I said, it doesn't make a difference for me.
>>
>>56169668
Where do you have your config? mpv might not be loading it
>>
>>56169694
with the .exe.
It's definitely being loaded, because the volume, osc, subtitle settings and everything else is working fine. There's just no difference when I use different video options.
>>
>>56169668
the config filename should be
mpv.conf
not .config

It is, I just fucked the pastebin filename.

First screen, with vo=opengl-hq on
This is using default screenshot settings, because my pngs would be too big for 4chan
>>

I can't actually post the second one here because 4chan flags it as a duplicate, here it is:

Nigger I swear to god.
If you can't a png of that small enough to post here, then upload it somewhere else and link it. A jpg is useless for comparison.
>>
>>56169979
>because my pngs would be too big for 4chan
This is useless to compare pixel by pixel since the images of both would be different already thanks to JPG
Use this vo, if it looks blurry then your vo is working
vo=opengl-hq:scale-blur=25[\code]
>>
>>56169979
>>56170015
Those are the exact same file.
Play the video fullscreen, prt scr then save in paint as png.

Here
These are screen clippings, .pngs. Same filesize, down to the byte.

Had to use different hosts. Again, flagged as dupes.

>>56170049
No blur, so I guess it's not working.
>>
>>56170185
I also tried the rorgoth build from the second link in the OP, no difference. No blur.
