Every personal device i own included my phone is encrypted and my Thinkpad protects itself from physical damage anyway.
*common sense*
the VAC (shit because I'm not autistic) of malware protection
Mostly just avoid Russian porn sites and Nigerian prince emails and im fine
Ive also got Eset Antivirus but mostly just to prevent cracked programs from connecting to the internet

:^)
Haven't used antivirus for 6 years,
Don't download fuckmyvirginpussy.bat.exe.tar.exe.exe and stay away from anything that doesn't appear on the first three Google index pages
Why fuck would you even think to use antivirus

How do I get rid of sadpanda /g/?
>>56163545
Change the "ex" to "g.e-"
Hey guys, I'm new to/g/ and an currently know little about computers. I put Norton 360 on my laptop when I started university and now 3 years later I feel like it's putting a major bog on my system.
Is Norton 360 a good antivirus?
What is a decent antivirus that has absolute minimal affect on computer performance?
>>56163785
just buy a new laptop with a powerful intel cpu goy
>>56163545
Get firefox on your android.
Register and log in to e-hentai.org.
That's literally it, you don't even need to change anything.

Get rid of it and just use Windows Defender
>>56159313
Avast, rkill, Malwarebytes, ADWCleaner, JRT
nerds on reddit said malwarebytes and windows defender. Is that good enough?
>>56161554
Valve anti cheat only protects you from hackers in valve games anon, it won't do anything against real viruses.
>>56163885
No, you have to install gentoo.
Common sense, mostly. Adblock and noscript for my browser, sandboxie and a vm for executatables I don't fully trust, and tinywall for network control

Thank you.
Super noob question, but I want to clarify/confirm. Can you only get a virus from downloads that are .exe files... Or can there somehow be viruses embedded /hidden in .mp3/.PNG/.gif/.avi etc files?
>>56159313
>"there"
kill yourself
>>56164046
Anything can have malware, it's just easier with an executable. For a png to infect you, for example, there would need to be an exploit in whatever photo viewer you use that would allow a file opened with it to run arbitrary code or make arbitrary writes. It's possible but very unlikely.
>>56164046
There can be viruses in most files you download, mp3 included
