Hi all,
I just want to know if copiers have the ability to (covertly) send copies of all of what has been copied on them to their parent companies ??
For example: I photocopy a document on said copier, can this document that has been copied end up with Canon / Ricoh ??

Its not impossible if it has networking capabilities
It is very much possible
Those printers already send usage info to parent companies
Every device you own does that.
Hi OP here,
Is it at all possible to stop this ??

set up a firewall and block outgoing connections.
If you need it networked to the outside you might need to setup something a bit more specific for your situation

Thanks so much.

>could they
on a well managed company network - no. Not going to happen.
If your company doesn't have an IT department and probably not even a hardware firewall, it's entirely plausible.
>would they
That being said I don't think they give a shit, what you copy. Also it's way too much traffic to try and be sneaky and it would be a massive scandal if they were caught by some company with good IT department and they'd be risking their business customers loyalties.
So no they wouldn't do it.

Ta friend.
I heard that Canon Printers turn off if they detect money is being printed

>implying they are not directed by NSA to forward all scans to the Utah location
>>56158781
most printers these days can detect if you're trying to scan/print money and simply wont print it or will just blank it out when you attempt to print.
Though you'd have to be retarded to think that'd work anyway.
On most Corp copiers there's a hdd in the machine. It's imaged and put in storage for it to review if they suspect anything during that timeframe

Almost all printers disallow this, also every printer adds a watermark that can be tracked back to that specific printer.

Just wanted to try this as a prank at work

I know right, that fucking place will set alight in seconds if they ever have an A/C issue.
