How does it feel to know that this is the future of computing?
>>
you can run linux on those things

I used to use a chromebook, it wasn't that bad. I would even say it is better than windows. Longer battery, more reliable, does not interrupt workflow with forced updates/installations.

The future is bright
>>
>>56147877
>you can run linux on those things
I mean, it runs Linux by default. It's pretty much the entire point of the device.
>>
>>56147855
Bretty gud, actually. Get a burner phone number, make several burning google accounts. Buy a stack of cheap chromebooks for cash on craigslist. Feed the botnet tons of disinformation.
>>
I actually own a Chromebook and happen to love it.
Come at me nerds
>>
>>56148110
Nobody will come at you, they're too busy hiding from how comfy the botnet is.

no it doesn't, it runs a modified version of freebsd

ChromeOS is built on Gentoo you mung.
>>
>>56148237
It runs Gentoo. Not even kidding.

they're good to have their firmware replaced and be used as linux machines

Pretty damn good, knowing how capable some of them are.

This.

Which one do you have? I'm still running the HP 11 (G1) from like 2013. It seems to have gotten faster and more stable over time somehow.

Acer CB3-131

A snappy little Chromebook for $170. Got a glorious screen too!

Yeah, but you have to be stupid and bluepilled to listen to the botnet. Operating inside as a redpilled ubernomie is easy.

good point. you made me a tad more optimistic about the future :)

The conclusion of that image is a bit simplistic.
Because, alas, here we are, and one enabled the other.

Because the future is the past, but with metered LTE and cable internet instead of metered phone line usage.

This is pretty much how I feel.
>>
>>56147855
Used a Chromebook running Arch all throughout Uni. Was pretty nice senpai. Battery life was a little shorter than on ChromeOS, but no Google botnet and super portable.

10/10 would do again.
>>
>>56148831
Censorship can't keep up with the shitlording of the populace. If they crack down hard enough to do so they'll be squashing more bluepilled normies than anything else and their business model will implode.
>>
>>56147877
Too bad newer models can't have the SSD replaced with something more reasonably sized (200+GB).
>>
>>56149073
How much did the battery life differ?

Not him, but my C720 is ~10hr under Chrome and ~7hr under Gallium
>>
They're a viable option as long as you've got a long term storage option set up at home.

I wouldn't use a Chromebook as my one and only.
>>
>>56149823
Thanks mate, any noticable performance difference?
>>
>>56149896
Not really. Gallium is tailored to chromebook hardware so it runs buttery smooth.

But this is a future YOU can choose. You can avoid distractions and do what you really wish to do while others are busy with useless distraction from medias. Be the media, not the inverse.
>>
>>56150191
Relatively speaking.
>>
>>56149252
Pretty much around >>56149823
Sometimes around 8 hours when I was playing around with power profiles. After all, why do I need max power out of the chromebook when I'm just taking notes in vimwiki?
>>
>>56150348
Screen brightness all the way down can get you ~9hrs, but you need a very low light room to pull it off.
>>
>>56147855
Cheap and affordable computers that can run *nix based OSs? feels awesome. Will be good when another few billion people have access to this technology
>>
>>56151416
lol
>>
Chromebooks have already surpassed Mac's. These things are the future
>>
>>56147855
good? i mean, of all the possible outcomes, a lightweight linux-based os that boots off an open source bios substitute running on sleek low-power high efficiency hardware for pennies on the dollar doesnt really sound too bad.
>>
>>56154541
>BUT MUH BOTNET

Time to step into the future grandpa
>>
>>56148621

I have yet to see any significant advantages to doing one's work over SSH, rather than just doing it natively on one's own laptop. In fact, every time I've had to do it, it's been a relatively unpleasant experience by comparison.

>>56154472

Anon, you do not use an apostrophe for plurals, except perhaps in the case of plural letters (such as in the case of "s's").
