I work at a theater and the production manager has a pi hooked into the video system to show stills of upcoming shows
He can remote in an update it whenever
Probably the only real-world use of a pi I've seen. Also my respect for him shot up, a lot of people in the a/v world are nerds but I had a coworker come over and point at a motherboard and say "what the fuck is that?"

Probably not, but if you live somewhere where nobody gives a shit what you do online anyway (and have a decent speed) you could sell VPN services to a few people. I'd do it myself if I didn't have limited bandwidth.

I need a screen so I can make a calendar. Would want it to pull from my owncloud calendar. The screen would just be for display. Might add a shitty cheap camera in order to give it some very minor motion controls. Also have it turn off unless someone walks in front of it.

Current project:
Two one-phase 280V relays controlled by a rPi3 with the official 7" touch screen.

I'm adding 5 DS18B20 waterproof temperature sensors and a DHT22/AM2302 temperature and humidity sensor.
I'm going to use temperature and humidity as parameters which i can manually set stop and start limits using the touch display.

Use cases will be mostly brewing but as the relays goes up to 280V 10A, i can also use it for heating up garage/cars etc.
