I have an IPS 1440p@144Hz screen. The extra FPS is very nice, and much smoother than 60Hz. But it will not make you enjoy a game 100% more. You can enjoy a game perfectly on 1080p@60Hz.

Think of it as having "smooth peanut butter" vs "ultra creamy peanut butter".

Of course, if you can afford it, go for it. 144Hz is not a necessity, but it is definitely a sweet luxury.
