why do you install Linux?
Because games are for children.
Real men watch anime.

couldn't you do the same on windows or Mac

Originally I installed it because I was a developer, and development on Windows is a pain compared to Linux
Then I fell in love with it, and now I wouldn't replace it for anything else for multiple reasons. It's ultra comfy, I've gotten more paranoid about spying/botnet, the alternatives have become more and more shit, it's the only OS that gives *me* control over my computer, etc.

>install ubuntu
>can't change mouse wheel scroll speed
>can't change position of launcher
>no menu, have to use some fucked up search widget to browse installed apps
>file browser makes no sense
>performance and responsiveness no better than windows
At least the font rendering in Firefox was nice

Well obviously you should stick with windows if you're gonna crap out at the first symptom of baby duck syndrome
>>56139668
Because of Bash and the /proc directory

6/10 made me reply

Because I got too frustrated with windows' updating process. What a piece of shit that is.

wanted to try it, wanted to try some software
didn't really cater for my needs fully which i kind of expected from the start. can't be arsed to dual boot so i just stick with one os.
I tried to install Debian on my school laptop today, got an error saying something about no compatible kernels found :^(
Because it's the only OS that supports my SBC

I started to hate how windows and IE were constantly crashing. At that time I was new to computers.(AOL) days. Hell I didn't even know there was anything besides Microsoft. A friend of mine told me there was so much more out waiting to be explored. I was introduced to linux, open source, and free ware and never looked back. I'm not a PC gamer. So there is no point for me to use windows. If something is buggy I can change it without the risk of being vaned and sued in court. I can give copies away to friends and family. It is in my opinion the only way to go.

I install Linux inside VM's just to waste time when I have nothing better to do.
It's nice way to kill time fixing all this stupid basic shit that is broken or not optimal. I would never use it as my daily driver though because it needs to just work.
