their no year of the Linux desktop until some compagnies get their shit together and sold some linuxbook
>>
>>56138820
But Dell already sells laptops with Ubuntu !
>>
After working on Linux for years, when I get to work on a Windows machine I get disgusted.
How do I go back to being a normie again?
>>
>>56138820
They already did that, it's called a Chromebook.

Yeah it's autistic to use Linux while working with Linux for embedded devices!
>>
>>56138720
"The tear of the Linux desktop" isn't coming, and if it somehow does happen it won't be in the next decade.
There's no real incentive for manufactures to push systems with Linux pre-installed, and the vast majority of people aren't going to be interested in installing an OS by themselves.
>>
>>56138720
this is the year of the linux laptop, 2017 is the year of the linux desktop, we get 2018 off, then it's the year of the linux tablet in 2019
>>
>the normies are finally getting fed up with M$
>there are too many poorfags for Apple to succeed with their current Hasidic ways and the gay Jew will literally never lower his prices
This is it. The Linux desktop. Soon™. Windows will be for gaymen only and OS X will continue to be for the LGBT community.
>>
Like I want goddamn idiots, women and normies and phone-clutching tards, in the Linux community. The spergy kids are bad enough.
>>
Long ways to go yet
>>
>>56138720
Leenux will never dominate the desktop.

I doesn't need to though. It just needs a solid presence.

this is real?
>>
IMO it has been for a few years. I don't think it matters if everyone thinks so.
>>
I think if Linux is pushed via laptop sales it will eventually succeed. Get the users while they're young imo. Win10 botnet I think helps a wee bit not enough though. Wine and GPU passthrough if made dummy proof I think would bear more fruit. Distros are in a good place like Ubuntu, Arch, Gentoo, Mint, and more. DE's are pretty great too overall too like LXDE XFCE Mate and Cinnabun (now with more cum icing).
>>
every year is the year of the linux desktop
>>
well first microshaft wangblows needs to become so horrendous, problematic and pain-in-the-arse-to-work-with that even execs with no knowledge of computing in the industry (real industry, where actual things are produced) would want to move away from it. And then linux needs to be able to compete with OSX.

Also, red hat needs a competitor I think.

Remember when some manufacturer shipped their laptop with Ubuntu and that dumbass local news put this crazy bitch on air talking about how she can't go through college with it because it was runnings Ubuntu.

Returned a XPS 13 DE a few days ago, after waiting three weeks for it to be delivered i wasn't really impressed by the build quality.

I guess my T420 needs to hold on for another year, or until the next mbp is released.

I thought that was settled a long time ago.

The year of the Linux desktop is always $(date +%Y)
