It's been a bad month for Linux

>Google planning to replace Linux as the kernel for Android
Source? I'm interested in hearing more.
In any case, this thread was obviously started by a falseflagging anti-BSD poster

It's called Google Fuchsia
>Fuchsia is an operating system currently being developed by Google.[1] Contrary to previous operating systems developed by Google such as Chrome OS and Android, which are based on the Linux kernel, Fuchsia is based on a new kernel called "Magenta",[2] built on top of Little Kernel,[3] mainly written in C. Fuchsia is reportedly written in Dart, and is designed to run on a multitude of devices, including mobile phones and personal computers.[4]

So it's written entirely from scratch? I always found it weird that Google had so many ex-Bell Labs employees and they never really tried to do a follow-up to Inferno.
Freebsd isn't reakly better. The only usable bsd which stands a chance is openbsd but that one has very bad hardware support.
>>56138748
Wrong. Proprietary hardware has bad OpenBSD support, not the other way around.
If you don't use open source hardware, that's what happens.

>If you don't use open source hardware
Which is what, 5℅ of hardware available?
>>56138821
a lot more than you'd expect, actually

Post proof.

http://man.openbsd.org/OpenBSD-current/man4/usb.4
these are all drivers, i didn't include the pcmcia page because lol who uses that
>>56138890
Those aren't open source. Do you have the blueprint schematics?
>>56138821
Currently just about none of the hardware, but that simply means boycotting closed-source hardware, and making closed-source hardware and software prohibited on planet Earth.
