stupid overpriced gimmick garbage everyone forgets about in a year or two.
stupid goim, consumerist slaves.
>>
the hardware is here, the software is not
>>
Still alive, Nvidia is pushing it hard on THEIR platform.

It might died somewhere else but it will survive on Nvidia, just like Shield TV, Geforce NOW etcetera.

How could it be dead when Intel currently developing the nextgen VR HMD?

Are you retarded?
>>
>>56136368
Pretty sure they're not bothering with Shield anymore
>>
Not dead. Based on Steam stats there are a decent number of people with some form of VR.

Realistically by the time gen 2 headsets come out there will be enough quality content to being more people in (I'd be interested at that point). It's never going to completely replace monitors, but is a neat technology that there is solid demand for if they can bring the price down.

It's dead for gaming, but not for other applications. I post in VR now and sold my multi monitor setup for it. It's the future. Love my vive.
>>
>>56136620

Only works for Edge? what software is this?
>>
>>56136649
Just a dev tool. Don't think too much about it
>>
>>56136106
This is like 3rd + gen of the current wave of VR.
It has spread like wild fire with even Chinese companies cropping up to make their own non-phone headsets.
>>
>>56136620
that's ar, tho
>>
>>56136649
That's Microsoft memelens. It's AR, not VR.
>>
>>56136649
Its a bunch of 4k TVs in a dark room, at the end you can clearly see the bezel of a TV to the left of the door way
>>
Entry cost for VR is still too high for most people. It won't really take off until consoles go VR.
>>
>>56136270
Besides, AR is more help helpful
>>
>>56136335
>"on the money"
>>
>>56136620
I really hope AR becomes a thing. It'll be like I'm really 4d nonlinear shitposting.

Is this a game to you fuckers? Transgenerational inventions motherfuckers. We need to build and research tech we MUST and NEED to have, not what we think is "neat"

I thought we were on gen 5 or so?

Also experimental labs have had tracking headsets since at least 1995, that I personally know of.

Doom in VR running on a Cray was some amazing shit back then.

is creating a windows 10 partition solely for virtual desktop a bad idea?
>>
>>56138409
And a horrible idea atm. with AR we eliminate the over production of screens/tvs and add back in a user(or home) desktop and human connection. winwin
>>
>>56138453
not in our lifetime mate

"2nd gen" will be great. Higher FOV, higher res, eye tracking, foveated rendering, wireless.

*3rd gen.
1st gen was back in 2000s
2nd gen was yesterday
>>
>>56136106
There is just nothing that is really worth the investment for most people at the moment.

It still has its target audience, but it's rather limited and we will have to see if that technology ever makes it into the mainstream.
>>

Super
Anal
Orgy
a "vr" porno game that to be enjoyed properly requires technology that we will not get anytime soon
things like manipulating the nerv signals to the brain to simulate stimulation and things like this
>>
>>56136620
that resolution tho
>>
people hated wearing 3d glasses, why would people want some heavy vr on their heads?

my ultrawide monitor works fine for games.
>>
>>56142285
Does your monitor work for VR games whatever they might be?
>>
>>56142358
>VR games

yeah, all those exclusive VR games
>>
Remember when 3D was the big thing? It died all on its own even before the Oculus was a thing.

VR will also die on its own.
>>
>>56136106
It died before it was even born actually.
It's not even widespread yet and we already have Vive and Oculus exclusives.
>>
>>56142400
>VR will also die on its own.
it already has
>>
It just costs too much. Simple as that. Get the price down, find some stupid fad game/app to run on it and people will be all over it.

>>56142285
>>56142400

t. hasn't tried it
>>

no, 3d was always going to be shit
>>
i'll probably pick up oculus when star citizen comes out so i have something decent to play with it
>>
