I bought a third party 9 cell battery for my T520 and just put it in for the first time. I checked to see what the wear level is and it says 96.3%. Is there any way this could be wrong, or did I just buy a shit battery?

Lion / Lipo batteries degrade the second they are made. To minimize degradation they are distributed with ~40% charge.

Don't use such software ever again, you will only get negative feelings when you find out your battery will have 50% capacity after 1 year of regular use.
