FX4350 w/ MSI GTX 970

depends what you're going to be playing. something like gta 5 or arma 3 might be kinda shitty

im coming from a 750ti on the same setup, gta 5 was actually running quite well, solid 40-60 fps, however arma 3 is 'okay' but not brilliant, it was on medium graphics at about 25-35 fps. will there be a difference? I play mainly csgo and arma 2/3 aswell as dayz

you won't feel the difference because bottleneck. You should always upgrade your CPU and then worry about other elements.

surely games that require a better gpu than a 750ti, like csgo/dayz will run at a higher frame rate, my cpu usage was only about 50% playing games like that on my 750ti?

Is your GPU usage high on games that don't have an fps limit? Great, then there will be an improvement and your CPU isn't a bottleneck.
However if your GPU usage is not close to a 100 % and your CPU usage is, then your CPU is bottlenecking. I had 4350, upgraded to 8350. Not that big of an improvement on the games I play. I'd say get a new GPU. Upgrading CPU is not worth it now that Zen is just around the corner

Both of those games are very much CPU heavy so I doubt it. Your CPU usage is only at 50% because (at least csgo) doesn't need more performance to hit the fps cap

not at my pc right now, so i can't check unfortunately.

but im fairly certain my cpu usage definitely was no where near 100%, temps were also always quite low etc etc.

i can always upgrade in the near future to a new cpu, mobo and stuff but i dont think i have enough for a lot better cpu (£120) approximately and i could only get an FX-6350, which probably won't make a lot of a difference.

CPU bottle necks pretty much dont exist in video games my /v/ memester, unless you are using decade old CPUs

Your FX-4350 has high clock but low single core power which means games requiring good single core, maybe like WoW, or 4+ cores like Crisis 3, Fallout 4 will bottleneck your GPU. (games would be playable but laggy)

You need to get yourself a FX-8350 or wait for Zen series and or think switching to intel :P

Will getting an AMD/Radeon GPU run better with my FX4350?

If a 970 will get less FPS or performance than my 750ti currently does, I'll try to upgrade my CPU first, however, if it will get more FPS/better performance upgrading to a 970, i'll do GPU first and cpu later (probably switching to intel as from this i have learned AMD cpu's really are under-par)
