I saw a post before about how somebody was given this challenge and this was the way he handled it, and whilst this gives the result, it was still essentially using multiplication and not finding an alternative solution.

What would be a better way to tackle this?

Python if you just want to add a new language

Java if you want to learn OOP (I will be torn to pieces for this suggestion). Python/C++ will also do, but I suggested Java solely because of the immense and structured documentation that exist for it on the oracle page

If you want to put to use the functional elements in javascript (and recently java) touch on Scheme

if you want to webdev look at css and html, and react.js (will also be torn to shreds for this one)

if you absolutely have to go for something functional, do OCaml, do not be tempted by haskell/scala. lisp is also optional but it wont satisfy your needs in this catecory

If you want to be useful do C and C++. Understanding pointers/stacks etc all the CS concepts is important, and learning from hard experience is better than reading about it in a book

if nothing interrests you, 'learn' sqlite, knowing how to use sqlite, postgreql etcetc is immenesly beneficial and it shoulnt take long

>How do I summarize the data?
This is more of a statistics question than it is technology - though, STEM majors probably know more statistics than anyone else. bAnyway, this is quite a complicated question, and it depends on how you're gonna implement data structures for your program. Since you're asking about how to summarize data given a sheet with names, age, sex, and a condition, I would recommend getting a rudimentary understanding of SQL, since that's one of the biggest standards for anything database relatd

Best i can think of is a simple SQL query
>Select * from [SHEET NAME] where specificCondition = [CONDITION] and age = [AGE] and sex = [SEX]
or if you're looking to get every possible combination just use the "group by" statement.
On how to execute SQL queries in libre calc see

https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/7769/sql-in-calc/
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=35050

There's probably a simpler way to do it but I never worked with libre stuff

Generally the best idea is to install windows first so you don't have to fuck around with GRUB twice. Make sure you don't use the whole drive and save enough space for linux.

the chipset is on your motherboard.

Z170 are the most expensive ones because they let you overclock your CPU. Your CPU isn't unlocked though so it's of no use to you.

That's a pretty tall order

The stuff that you most definitely will need is html and javascript for anything on the web

android: java + html
iOs: objective-C
no way around these two, as far as I know

My advice to you is to pick either front-end or back-end and then, full stack developing

I think it could be difficult for someone fairly new to create anything of worth by themselves

My suggestion for you, if you know 0/little programming:
1: learn python, and learn it well. This will take months
2: learn sql along with bash, and learn to use sql with python. this will take a week to get a foundation, a month to learn pretty well for whatever it is that you are capable of at this stage
3a: learn Java. This will suck and dissuade you a bit. It will take some time
3b: learn gtk+ or qt to make GUI's for python. Just to get a hang of it and to understand it.
4: Its time for Java no matter what. I dont know anything about your pace, but this might be 1 or 3 months. Learn threads, this is important. Not just threads, the theory behind them, such as race conditions and the like. This is important if you ever want to program for the device you're using. This is a horrendus step altogether but threading (not realy threading) on python is bizzarely bad. And you need java anyway for mobile apps
5a: You are ready for android apps
5b: You are ready for objective-C
5c: Learn how to use webGL. This is browser based graphics, like games. The fragment shaders will be the most difficult thing you ever do in life unless you've taken QM

He/they put up rips in 720 and 1080p. Yes, that's perfectly fine.
Most TV's and monitors can't even display higher resolutions then that.

I had a 3tb external barracuda and was planning to use it as a backup drive for my server. Didn't get around to using it until like 6ish months later when I was upgrading my old server with some new parts. Backed up my 2tb of movies, TV shows, etc. Like 2 days later had the new mobo, GPU, and drives. Put in new ssd for boot and wiped my old 3tb to put it in a raid 5 with some new drives. When I got the system all up and running I went to copy my media back onto the new server setup but the drive wouldn't show up. I did everything I could to scan for filesystems, replace cords, etc, with no avail. Lost a few years of media for a piece of shit Seagate that couldn't even last a week the first time I used it. Those fucks wouldn't even replace it since it only had a 30 day.

C newbie here, just started reading and skimming through K&R and looking through various C tutorial sites to try to understand C. I've gotten to the chapter on pointers in K&R, and I feel like I understand the basics of pointers. But in section 5.6, titled "Pointer Arrays; Pointers to Pointers," I'm a bit stumped on arrays of pointers to character data types. Specifically, if I have something like

char *lineptr[5000];

how do the indices work, and what exactly do I have 5000 of? I have 5000 elements that are pointers to character data types? Or I can hold 5000 strings of any size? Or I can hold enough strings whose total memory is less than or equal to 5000? Because in earlier sections, they initialize an array of character pointers like this:

char *lineptr2[] = { "aardvark", "scorpio", "papaya" };

So then what is the size of this array? And if it is size three, does it just allocate memory to each string based on how long each string is, i.e. enough memory for the character array "aardvark\0"?

Is there any reason to use DP over HDMI at 1080p/60Hz or even 1440p/60Hz ? I know some a little bit older HDMI can't do 4k@60Hz, but at those resolutions and refresh rates, it should be fine, right ?

Not trying to be an ass, but booting is pretty much a "once a day"-thing for most people, so I would not worry about it. But if it bothers you, I'd see what steps are taking too long and take it from there. If it takes a long time from when you press the power-button until you hear the "BEEP" indicating the POST is done, you have 2 options:
You have told your motherboard to check for a lot of stuff (in BIOS) or there is something not quite right about a specific part, but it manages to get it working after a while and boot.

If it's the loading of the operating system that takes a while, it could be anything from a slow CPU to a corrupt system file. Idk, man.

The color indicates what usage it is meant for.

Green: Slowest, quietest, lowest power.
Use this for general mass storage.

Blue: Standard drive.
A good allround drive.

Black: Performance tuned, faster, potentially noisier and more power hungry.
Use this to install operating system, programs and games for faster access and loading. (This is the one kids (or /g/) would brag about having)

>960 outdated means good price
not really. you can get a 1060 for just a bit more and it will run circles around the 960, also it will last longer so you dont have to replace it as soon (thus saving money).

consider getting an unlocked i7 (k series) and z170 mobo for longer life and better resell value (again saving money in the long run).

the Cryorig h7 is not easily available in the UK it seems. At least from the regular stores. It is not even price listed on pcpartpicker.

MSI B150 Gaming M3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard.
This is what I went for so far because of price and features, however i don't care about the design and gaming features.

i7 6700K is like £40 more and I won't be using any K features.

1) Am I supposed to connect the DVI cable of my monitor to the DVI port of the mobo or to the DVI port of the video card?
2) If I connect it to the DVI port of the video card, will the mobo detect the video card as the main and only source for the screen? I don't want to run the risk to use the CPU integrated graphics by mistake...

Hey friends, I'm looking at getting a gay ming monitor. Specifically the MG248Q.

I know conventional logic is that TN displays look worse and not as vibrant as IPS panels, but according to tftcentral's review of the MG248Q, it measures similarly to my current 60hz IPS; 1000:1 contrast ratio, 100% sRGB coverage, similar DeltaE figures, and color temperature. So even though the gay ming monitor is TN, shouldn't it look similar to my IPS in terms of image quality and color reproduction?

1060 is at least £40 more expensive than the 960. I will look into it but I am really stretching my pocket here.
>>
>>56114561
>Hoe is £40 more 'free' performance?
because you can fucking overclock you dumbass.

like the other anon said, it already is faster without overclocking for those £40 and then you can get even more performance for free if you OC.

never fucking poorfag, save up more money and then buy the good shit or you will have buyers remorse. iit also saves you money in the long run because you dont have to upgrade as soon.

>>56114577
more HZ is better for gaming. get 120-144hz IPS if you can afford it otherwise TN is fine.

superb color is

>>56114590
you need to look at price per [insert currency]. compare performance of the two cards and you will see that 1060 is much better deal. the 960 would only be worth it if it's less than £150

AV programs are pretty useless these days. Run a scan with MS security essentials every now and then, but what you really need to do is keep up to date on your OS/browser patches, remove flash/java/etc, don't install sketchy/cracked software, and don't click on links in emails

as someone who honestly doesn't know any better, would one be better to really dig into than the other? Like is python desirable on it's own or is it more in combination with other languages/libraries? I know enough to make neat stuff in pygame and shit like pong without too much effort, as well as simple online things like a twitter bot. But as a language that stands on it's own when it comes to opportunities is it any good? Would I be better off learning something like Go in the hopes it takes off?
>>
>>56116187

Python gets used for automation a lot of the time. It's maybe not THE language to use if you want to make applications but you can get away with it using it that way if you want.
