So how doomed is AMD?

Not very since they won't need two power plugs on their APUs that scale fro. 5W up 65w. Enjoy your 50 lb "notebook".

pretty excited family, hopefully the 1060 will run at around 900 to a thousand bucks

I got a 1070 on my desktop...
i'd happily pick up a 1060 laptop for a grand

>150 watt TDP monster in a laptop
Yeah, no. They've can perform as well as you'd like but the issue has always been and will always be thermals. Nvidia and AMD increasing the TDP does not help.

>battery life so minuscule it's not even stated in the spec sheet

I don't see the point of getting a laptop that will only melt as you play videos or games.

i could show you IRC logs where someone demanded that i acknowledge that AMD was dead literally a full year ago. AMD will probably persist as a budget or niche graphics card manufacturer. if you want to make a more extreme projection than that, you need to be prepared for knowing that you're a melodramatic drama queen when AMD is still hanging on in a year.

Seriously what the fuck, a stupid 1920*1080 screen should not jack the price up that much nor should small form factor motherboards or the plastic gimmicky shit they're housed in. It's such a ripoff.

My guess would be the specific manufacturing costs and design of the internal components being unique for each build
Then there's the price premium for a "compact, portable gaming pc"

at least it doubles as a castration device

Literally, the worst kind of chink shit imaginable. Enjoy purchasing display models and getting your RMAs denied for arbitrary reasons.
