No

Just get a 1440p 120Hz display.
>>
what other specs are you interested in besides widescreen, does refresh rate and response time matter? what resolution?
>>
ultrawides are good for muh immersion, but if you're just looking for screenspace, get a cheap widescreen monitor off of craigslist

>>56104095
thats probably way more than 1080p ultrawide will ever be
>>
>>56104102

Im not really sure. I built a powerful gaming pc about a year ago and got some money to spend now to replace my shitty monitor.

Currently using my shitty Vizio 42 inch HDTV as my monitor and it hurts my eyes after prolonged use and is really annoying in general.

I cant decide between a dual monitor setup, an ultrawide monitor or a 1440p 120 hz one
>>
You should wait till the 120hz versions come out this year

>>56104095
Why not both?

Really want to buy something now. I dont want to spend more than $1000 though

i got a refurb u3415w for $500. sure it doesn't have g-sync or a high refresh rate, but i love the heck ouf of it. it's really demanding though. even with a 4790k, 16gb of ram, and a 1080, it isn't going to hit 60fps with max everything on the most recent games (ROTTR, Witcher 3, as an example)
>>
>>56104143
That LG mac clone one is good if you can stand the look
>>
>>56104161
>1080

no
>>
>>56104230

I still use a gtx 780 not sure I could handle the higher resolution
>>
I'm looking for a 1440p IPS at 120Hz or greater, what's good?
>>
>>56104076
Overwatch doesn't support 21:9 so it isn't worth it.
>>
>>56104247
Then lower settings. You're going to keep your monitor longer than your GPU
>>
>>56104269

It would be pretty cool in overwatch too that kinda sucks
>>
>>56104303
Can't have that competitive advantage :^)

what about this one?
>>
>>56104312
over fucking priced
>>
>>56104303
Well to clarify it has 21:9 support, it's just the implementatipon is a dropped version of 16:9. You get the same horizontal real estate but less vertical. But hey, getting advantages by using a high refresh rate is still allowed
>>
>>56104376

Is their a cheaper one thats as good with 21:9 and 1440?
>>
>>56104404
Check LG
>>
>>56104076
i bought one but had to return it for a regular 1440p monitor because the only thing i do other than video editing and gaming is watching a lot of tv series and youtube videos on my monitor. Both TV and Youtube content has black borders on the side on 21:9 monitors which is just so annoying to look at that i just can't use ultrawide monitors at all.

If you don't watch a lot of youtube or TV series on your computer then ultrawide monitor will serve you well. Nearly all the content on youtube and TV is in 16:9.

>>
16:10 or get out.
>>
>>56104076
Most 21:9 come with 75Hz Freesync today...

Well it depends. If you have a 24" one now and you want to dual monitor I'd sugest a 29" one.

If you want a solo 21:9 go for a 34" with say 120Hz or preferably.
>>
Any good 1440p 120-144hz monitors under $500?
>>
>>56104492
That one is good. The one I would have bought if it weren't for 144hz monitors soon. It goes on sale at Adorama for less though.
>>
ultrawide? more like, no guy buy!
>>
>>56104076
If you're only going to have one monitor then ultrawide is pretty appealing.
I have one myself and I like the way I can effectively have it split into two 10.5:9 work areas. On a 16:9 or 16:10 I think it would feel too cramped.

Doom has no problems with the 21:9 ratio too, so it's all good.
>>
can't you just sit closer to the screen
>>
>>56104741
You should be ashamed for quoting senpai so poorly
