You're asking an informed community why they hate a standard that isn't as good as its alternate being the most widely used.

Anyone with a brain would hate that an inferior standard is being used when a superior one exists and has no reason to not be used.

The way I look at it is that HDMI is more for TV and game consoles. Not for computers. Use DisplayPort or DVI. Or use HDMI if you're hooking your PC up to a TV.

HDMI is fucking every where, and the cables cost absurd amounts of money and have all kinds of god damn meme buzzword variations.

It's fine. I think that the CEC part of it is poorly designed and tries to do way too much. Having HDMI devices on your network may be a security issue.
