OK I asked this in the stupid questions thread but maybe my questions is not that dumb r-right?
Can a raspberry pi die if its not shut down properly? e.g power outages, power spikes, brownouts, pulling the plug before doing sudo halt. etc
I know that the SD card can get corrupted, but can the pi itself or maybe the power supply (AC/DC adapter) stop working?
I am asking this because I want to run it as a personal server, I don't mind it going down when there is no power since I can just make the SD card read only ,I won't use mysql or write anything to the card anyways.
I Just want to avoid wasting money on a power bank or ups. I can just wait until the power is back and the pi turns itself on again

Yes, it can actually damage the processor, UPS that shit.
Guys can a Raspberry Pi be destroyed from repeated strikes with a hammer?
Someone posted this pic, but I think it may be shopped.
guys can i microwave my raspberry pi without bricking it

I don't think so, but that's an uneducated guess. The CPU itself doesn't care, and the BIOS should be read only, so I don't see what could be corrupted by a sudden loss of power.
Power spike is a different thing, that could easily fuck it up depending on how big it is.
