How do you guys feel about moores law?
it's a big law

It's pretty moreish.
It's ogre

Its true, but we have a few other ways of increasing speed by design. Once we truly hit the end of design and transisitor size. We need to look to something completely new, outside of the box.

4 CPU

When does that end happen? In our lifetime?

quantum computing?
>dont know shit about it but heard it many times

Of the 30+ alternatives to CMOS that DARPA has investigated, only 2-3 of them show long-term promis; graphene, III-V semiconductors, or carbon nanotubes perpetually improving technology stretching into infinity.
With Dennard scaling gone and the advantages of new hubs contracting each era, the catalyst to really pay the tremendous costs required to work at the following hub are just too little to legitimize the expense. It may be conceivable to construct sub-5nm chips, however the cost and level of duplication at key zones to guarantee appropriate circuit usefulness are going to nuke any potential advantages.

it was nice for perspective but it had to end at some point
which is good because now we can focus on improving architecture rather than just boosting transistor count

Kill yourself faggot

Moore's Law will be mitigated once quantum computers become well understood, but that's probably not going to happen any time soon.
I surmise that carbon nanotube based computing platforms will act as a bridge between silicon and quantum based computing systems.

Who knows when we'll hit the end of innovation.

Good idea on paper but the issue is that it hasnt been recreated. The google dwave isnt a quantum computer like they claim it to be. It's sort of emulated.

The general public wont be allowed to own them though. Encryption will be moot at that point.
