1. Black Flags, Rise of Isis by Joby Warrick; interesting account about the rise of the primary agents of Al-Qaeda and later on, ISIS.
2.No Good Men Among the Living: America, the Taliban, and the War through Afghan Eyes by Anand Gopal. POV of a Taliban commander, Afghan housewife, and a warlord supported by the CIA, incredibly moving book, shows you how corrupt war can really be.
3. The sixth extinction: an unnatural history by Elizabeth Kolbert. This book talks about past extinction events and explains that the scale at which species are dying out now (in the era of man) rival or surpass the rate of extinction of more ancient epochs.
