iOS does have its perks, though being extremely limited. The major one is OS updates. Generally, iOS devices receive more updates than android devices. These updates are commonly coupled with "planned obsolecense" claims, but in reality Apple just isn't optimizing them for anything but the newest devices. You also can't rollback these updates after apple stops signing ipsw's. Android devices, while lacking sometimes in official carrier/manufacturer updates, often have community forums supporting them with new android versions. By design this makes android devices more open to security vulnerabilities. In short iOS devices are very restrictive, but more secure. Android devices are less secure, but more customizable.

I think it was actually wrong, apparently ricing means only cosmetic improvements, and comes from car enthusiast lingo.
I only heard it used on /g/, and here it's basically a catch-all term for changing anything from the defaults.
If we're talking about changing the programs and internals of the phone, then it helped me make my old slow phone with no internal memory into something I could actually use, thanks to CyanogenMod ports it had. The programs I installed are also in general lighter than what came out of the box, and I even get better battery life. My phone doesn't have official Marshmallow support, but yet the CyanogenMod is based on 6.0. The tablet, too, became a lot more enjoyable to use once I removed all the bloat. You do need the time for it, though.
If you're referring to making everything pretty, then I think it has some inherent value. Pretty things just make you feel better when you look at them. You can overdo it, though, though /g/ isn't that bad in this regard.

I was working as tech support for a agricultural company .farmers would buy the app and anytime they have a problem they would give as a call. 68% devices registered were Apple . Farmers and elderly prefer them because of more simplistic gui however the problems start when they want to install a app because non of them ever remember the password. this would be fine if the folder wasn't hidden from the audio player

If it's in browser, changing useragent should work. Every time you connect to site, it asks your browser what your OS and device is, and your browser answers. You should just make it lie for this particular site, most modern browsers should be capable of that. Some people make it lie all the time to make it harder to identify them. It's literally just changing the string your browser sends to the site. Mind you, some other sites might break from that, like giving you the wrong link to download something or giving you the desktop version of the site.

I use XP and it has an old intel cpu from 2004 or 2005 or so and half a gigabyte of ram on my computer.Internal GPU as well. Yes, I could very well install a light Linux distribution, but I have some very specific, professional windows-only software. Yes, I could run XP in a VM, but it won't run natively, and the software would run much slower.

I am used to "adapting" software to my needs. This, while "annoying" to you guys, forces you to learn - which a lot of you don't. You're used to things working flawlessly right out of the box, and not having to change anything in the settings because it's a "hassle". American ""problems"".

The N900 is a great phone for a tinkerer like me. The fact that it runs an actual Linux-based OS straight on the hardware (Unlike android, which basically runs in a VM, thus running slower and using up more power), and that's amazing. The level of control is scary. You can even break something if you're not experienced, but the end results are totally worth it. Battery life for days with making calls and photos constantly? Yes

On that note, Android is not Linux, it is a fucking abomination. Promises of an "open source OS" have attracted people like flies to honey, but it actually is a locked-down OS filled with proprietary services doing god knows what with your phone. Yes, you could install one of those "custom ROMs" and not get the Google Applications, but it renders the decent hardware on your phone useless. The camera quality drops, the battery life as well..and let's not speak about the stability. Pure crap. Too bad you have to use those ROMs to keep your phone's OS recent and secure.

Might as well get an iphone, a windows phone, or hell, even a god damn BlackBerry - they're made by experienced giants in the computer industry, you can't go wrong with them.

What is VR?

I have tried iPhone and a high-end android device (can't really compare an iPhone to low-end android) and I prefer the android.

I used the same apps on both phones, so it doesn't matter very much which device I have but the battery capacity (with my use) was pretty bad on the iPhone compared to the android device.

I bought the iPhone 6s and expected it to be better than my OnePlus two, but nothing on the iPhone felt better.. I couldn't find any reason to
use the iPhone over the OP-Two.

It was a bit annoying to transfer music since I had to use iTunes which I don't normally use.

Another selling point people keep using is that it makes things easier with when you have a mac. I have a mac, but there was no change... Many of the arguments for using an iPhone just seem wrong.

I guess it all comes down to what you prefer.

I just recently switched to iPhones over having an Android all my life. I like the interface better and it's an overall more responsive device. I do have a few gripes with it though, no torrents, no file browser for adding music instead of installing the trash known as iTunes. Unable to download .mp3 files from the Internet browser. So far these are all I have, despite having a smaller battery than my Galaxy S6 it does get far greater battery life than it.

I use android because I write code, scripts, etc, and do testing on apps for work and android is much friendlier for that kind of activity.

Apple is a media company really, their products are good for consuming media, and simple enough for the average user that doesn't care about tech, and they're actually reasonably secure, Apple is really good about releasing regular security patches unlike most android OEMs.

Macfags say that "macs are 4 arteistsss!" but that hasnt been true for a few years now. Any decent design program for Apple is also available on other platforms.
