Asking "Hey guys, what's your opinion on x?" is frowned upon.
Wireless is frowned upon.
Headset requests are frowned upon.
Noise isolation ≠ Noise cancellation
If you dislike a suggestion, try giving a better suggestion to whomever asked instead of going "hurr, x sucks"

Ordering the DT 990's and unsure what amp to get, will the Fiio e10k be alright?

I can't seem to find anything else in the £50-60 range which can power 250 ohm headphones.

>>56049561
At that price range I'm pretty sure it will be the best option. The E10 will deliver enough volume to make you deaf, and I would say it can even drive loud enough the 600 ohm version.

Let me ask you what area of technology has improved so quickly that information from two years ago is no longer credible or relevant?

GPUs, one of the fastest moving was stuck at one node for five years and made incremental improvements. Haswell CPUs are still cutting edge because Broadwell and Sky Lake aren't a significant improvement. We're still using the same wireless standards from over a decade ago with few wireless evolutionary steps.

We should ignore that it took more than five years to have something other than an incremental increase in gpu performance? Ever heard of the cherry-picking fallacy?

Limited excursion and dynamic range. Poorly controlled directivity on most, and inherent lower frequency cancellation.
Difficulty of maintenance in areas with high humidity

>>56050515
Middling off axis performance, lacks bass extension. Modulation arises as a potential issue if these are played loudly. These would be expected of most small 2-way coax drivers.
Since people are evidently averse to EQ, it has an on-axis amplitude bump from 2-5 kHz and a dip between 1-2kHz.

>>

Clock for clock, Skylake wins, then Broadwell then Haswell.

Pascal seems to be slower clock for clock, but the architecture differences and the die shrink means higher clock speeds.

There's no such thing as a good enough product acoustically. There are tradeoffs that must be made with little spare margin of "good enough" performance to be given up.
There are many other alternative speakers to be bought at a similar price range, some of which people do own.
In the electrical domain, desktop audio is easy. It is a solved problem that can be well handled for little expense.

Well you cannot be concerned about being noisy as jumping jacks creates a lot of thumping so there's no need for headphones. Why don't you just use your speakers of existing headphones that you use all the rest of the time? You can coil up the wire and use an old sock or rag if you cannot afford an arm-band holder for your smartphone or DAP if you have a REAL issue with the wire flopping about.

Or is your desire really to advocate for the electric chair, Edison?

The thumping noises from jumping isn't just as loud, if not louder, than your normal listening sessions with your existing headphones?

I note how you did not address suggestion to increase convenience with wired headphones. Am I wrong in suspecting you are wed to the notion of wireless headphones even though you can almost as much convenience (if not arguably more) without spending a dime? You don't seem to understand, I run my monitor at 60Hz and a select few games run at 144Hz.

By locking the game on a 60Hz monitor with Vsync the game runs silky smooth, the only other refresh rate option this would work on is 120Hz.

I also leave it on 60Hz for better compatibility.

You should get PG279Q and calibrate it and GTX 1080 vendor card for your needs and then watch the GPU go kill in two weeks. Upgrade when needed to. Waiting is pointless and for poorfags. If you think you should wait, look for other options on the market.

You should also get yourself a nice pair of headphones and learn to use PEQ.

Dude what?

Some games like Witcher 3 has a fps cap but it's 60, 30 or unlimited. You can cap the fps at 60 and run it on 144Hz. Like I said earlier, I just keep my shit at 60Hz. Witcher 3 is a demanding game and ultra with no hair works causes it to drop high 50s in the cities but this is due to CPU bottlenecking.
>>
>>56052047
>Some games like Witcher 3 has a fps cap but it's 60
You choose to cap your frame rates? I'm certain it is the latter now.

Out of morbid curiuosity what is your issue with Gsync? It is designed specifically to smooth the experience in circumstances where framerates vary in the area of 30-60fps.
>>
>>56052078
>being this fucking mad

I don't cap it per se you stupid fucking faggot.

Listen up, I run it 2560x1440 60Hz in Windows. If I launch a AAA game, it runs at that setting, so if I enable V-sync, it'll be 60fps max. If I want to play Overwatch I set that to 144Hz in its in game settings. Yes the panel can go up to 165Hz but I don't give a flying fuck.

I don't like G-SYNC because I can notice the changes in smoothness over time. It feels unnatural. I prefer to play at a stable 60Hz experience. G-SYNC does some neat tricks to reduce judder so that's a positive.
>>

At least tell me you prefer to use ULMB over Gsync rather than a hard to believe lie that you can tell 45 or fps smoothness over 60fps smoothness. Human beings have an innate ability to acclimate. Either something is wrong with you or else you don't notice a "gradual change in smoothness over time" and just think you do.
>>

Again, I prefer a smooth and consistent experience you dumb faggot.

>At least tell me you prefer to use ULMB over Gsync rather than a hard to believe lie that you can tell 45 or fps smoothness over 60fps smoothness.

I use neither. Are you blind, a simple camera pan in-game and you can tell the difference between 45fps and 60fps. The latter being noticeably smoother. You can even tell 60fps to 75fps. I can't tell 120fps from 144fps though.

Human beings have an innate ability to acclimate. Either something is wrong with you or else you don't notice a "gradual change in smoothness over time" and just think you do.

On the topic of acclimatization, it doesn't work with G-SYNC as the refresh rate and fps fluctuates. Your point would only hold true if it gradually increased or decreased up until a certain value over a period of time. That isn't how G-SYNC works.

I've been using in ear earbuds for a long time. but I wear them so much I think the inside of my ears are getting fucked up. I have etymotic hf5, I like them a lot, best I've ever had.

Does anyone know of headphones that are semi noise isolating, closed ear but won't get ears hot (the reason I don't like over the ear headphones in the first place), and I'm not a huge sound quality audiophile, but I want something that doesn't sound "echoey", if that's even possible with an over the ear headphone. I've used closed and open ear headphones before but they all have that echo sound to them.

I don't even know if that's the right term. How about if I explain it like this: over the ear headphones with in ear earbud quality. Is this just a feature that non earbuds have inherently?

budget: 100-200, more if you assure me they're durable and can last for years.

Yes, I know I'm paying the brand, but I did try them at a mall and didn't notice any defects, they actually sounded nice to me (not a pro) and seem they would sound nice with the music he listens to the most, rock and blues.

Are they actually any good for 100€? Should I get anything else?

So based on the measurements, is the Focal Elear worthy of attention? I happen to prefer a warmer sound.

Convince me not to buy a game zero.

I absolutely need a mic close to my face all the time and modmics are very expensive in my country.

Is there such a thing as decent bluetooth headset at $100 or so.

I've been always using earphones, but I'm getting tired of wires and after losing my shure se215s I'd prefer some less clutter, as I'd be using them at both at work and home.

I generally don't mind the wires, but I do pretty physical work where I bend over (hue hue) and do similar things that make wire management a headache.

Are there any 'decent' wireless headphones at the 100$ price range.

One question though are the cables decently medium to long length on both perpherals since I sit reasonably far away from the pc
>>

I think BoomPro is like 5-6 ft long or something. Not sure about the stock SHP9500 cables tho.

You can prob easily find the lengths for both in the product specifications. Keep in mind that the shp has detachable cables and can be replaced with a longer one if needed.

I had a pair of ATH-M50s for a about five years which recently bit the dust. I really liked them, and am probably going to get another pair, but I am open to recommendations if there is something better out there for the price.

I do music production, and listen to a lot of bassy music. The ATH-M50s seemed to strike a good balance between accuracy and nigger bass.

How are the Koss Portapros in terms of comfort? I've had bad experiences with headphones that use the black disposable padding, and the metal headband makes me nervous.

I plan on getting better headphones for videya/audio editing stuff at home, but this would be for listening to music on the go, watching youtube videos/movies on my tablet when there's downtime at work, listening to music in bed, etc. so the quality doesn't have to be perfect. I'm just sick of buying $5 gummy headphones every couple of months.

I have a bit of a unique situation, /g/. When I was younger, I was in a car accident and fractured my skull, so I don't have any hearing in my left ear. I'm 27 now, and someone just pointed out to me the other day that I'm missing out when wearing headphones of any kind, because the certain sounds (bass, etc.) are divided between the ears unevenly?

I was wondering if there's some sort of unimposing adapter that would correct that problem.

Tried the HD800S at Jaben Singapore today. Long story short, I don't know what you guys were smoking when you said that the HD600 are better than this because they sounded so fucking impressive. I don't know the audiophile terminologies but human vocals especially sound so much more powerful and realistic.
>>
I want a good pair of wireless headphones.

Anyone here own Bose QC 25? If so, how are they?

Money really ain't an issue, and I work in a noisy environment where I would love noise reduction.

Don't really see that many alternatives, apart from Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b

If any of you know any good similar models, do tell.

>falling for the hype.

It's all the same garbage. Utopia/Elear are on the same level and falter when it comes to imaging. You can get better planars for less. Tyll over hyped the shit out of them when really they are just on par with other company's current offerings.

Passive works just as well (if not better) than active and doesn't need electricity and all the extra hardware and corollary costs.
>>
>>56064153
You fell for the meme but now you know the truth. The lesson is not to listen to the HD600 memers
>>
>>56064354
I've never heard passive be as good as Bose's active stuff except with IEMs which have their own issues for me

>So why do you spend thousands of dollars on audio gear when none of you have jobs or career related to audio
What kind of logic is this? Perhaps we enjoy and appreciate good sound. I don't understand how a profession would be related to anything.
>What do you even listen to with $5000+ audio rig setups?
The same stuff I'd listen to with any setup. The gear I use is unrelated to what I listen to or enjoy. Price of the gear is an uninteresting aspect imo.
>>
>>56064941
You need to try more headphones.

A quick comparison of the two.

It is almost always the case of people being wed to the notion of technology being better even if the truth doesn't bear that notion out.
