I saw a couple of 1060s on newegg for 250, and some others for 260. Of course the 1070 and 1080 will be priced higher, Nvidia has no competition there, and if you're willing to spend $380+ on a card an extra $40 won't be a huge deal breaker.

You do realize that most adults can afford a Titan X, right? It's the price of a decent vacation, which most people are able to take. Almost 3 years ago I thought "maybe it is all about graphics, I guess I'll try" and got SLI 780TIs, and I guess the graphics were good, in the first couple of months I was mainly playing graphics-centered games (Battlefield 4, Far Cry 3, Skyrim with an ENB and every texture mod on the nexus, etc.) but then I started slowly reverting to Counter Strike, Civ, Fallout New Vegas and other games that might not have the greatest graphics, but knock other games out of the water in terms of gameplay (the Witcher 3 is also more graphics than gameplay-focused, btw, played it twice on ultra, and it's shit).


I guess the point I'm making is that I would have had almost as much use out of a single 780 these last the years as I've had from 2 780TIs, and when I upgrade, it's probably going to be an xx70 if nvidia, or an x90 from AMD (if I finally sell my dumbass fucking Gsync proprietary bullshit screen).
