Yes. The 270/270X weren't complete rebrands, they came with faster memory. The 270 is 100MHz lower core clock than a 7870/270X but it's the same chip so you should have a 100% success rate at overclocking it to the same frequency.

You can actually play many new games on low 1080p settings and get 30+ FPS. Just make sure to buy 2 sticks of 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM and put them in dual channel mode and make sure the motherboard is actually using them at 1866 MHz.
