They make a lot of questionable decisions, such as using KDE instead of a lightweight WM so that you can easily use it on a shittier used laptop. They also add an adblocker to Tor which seems somewhat questionable as it makes your browser fingerprint different from normal Tor if you have JS enabled.

Both Whonix and Qubes are very interesting projects, especially when used together - but neither are amnesiac live distros, so neither entirely replaces Tails.
