Does this mean that those Surface 1 and 2 ARM tablets can be switched over to Linux in theory?

did you even read the article you fucktard?

>In other words, on devices that do not allow you to disable Secure Boot even if you have administrator rights – such as ARM-based Windows RT tablets – it is now possible to sidestep this block and run, say, GNU/Linux or Android.

ohh shit. I didn't recognize it from that. I just just searched for laughing penguin.

I skimmed it. Guess I needed to read it a bit closer. I was more excited it to share it since I didn't see a thread mentioning it.

Not necessarily.
There's a possibility that Linux can't even boot on these things.

For example, certain 32-bit Atom processors aren't even supported on Linux.
So you can't run ANY distribution of Linux on a Thinkpad Tablet 2, which uses those processors.

If the hardware configuration is near-identical to Android or Linux-running devices then you should be in the green though.

Just because there's no official first party support doesn't mean someone won't find a way to get it to work anyways. Also, it's not so much that Clover Trail CPUs don't work with Linux, as it is that the integrated graphics doesn't have drivers for Linux.

The problem with baytrail is only missing drivers. Linux works on all of them, just not very well since not many developers have (or care) about it.

Enjoy.

I think they leaked it on purpose. Because they had to give them to the three letters, the leak is just something like a warrant canary.
