Hey /g/, its been a while since im not in the tech world and shit so...
I wanna buy a new computer, however my budget is really (like, really...) limited.
Are APUs worth it for low end PCs? or would i be better by getting a low end intel CPU + GPU?
I won't really be doing any intensive tasks on it, but since im a poorfag i want the best value for money i can get.
Thanks in advance.

Get something used. It will be much cheaper than a new PC, and you might actually get something decent. My suggestion: Get a cheap decommissioned workstation desktop from the x58 era. ThinkStation S20, Dell Precision T3500+T5500 are good names, and usually around $100-$150 on ebay. Stick a $100 500GB SSD in there and you will beat any APU on the street and have a nice time doing it.

Pretty much. You can make a decent A8-7600 APU build for like $250. It will be more than enough for playing most vydia in low 1080p settings. In addition you can jam in a $240 Rx 480 dedicated graphics card later on to be able to play most vydia in max 1080p settings and get 60FPS+ most of the time.
The intel vs AMD thing kinda died with DX12 so using an AMD processor is not really a problem anymore. The A8-7600 is actually pretty decent despite it's ~$70 price tag, it has about the same multi-core processing power of a ~$130 skylake i3-6100 so you'll have more than enough juice for most tasks.
Finally just make sure to get 2 sticks of 4GB 1866 Mhz DDR3 RAM and make sure they are in dual channel mode and running at 1866 MHz.
Here is the build I was talking about

It includes a 500W PSU which is more than enough for an Rx 480. It's like $240 right now but will go down in price over time especially as the Rx 490 is released.

That HDD is really sorry, but like I said if that your budget you can get something really nice on the used market. Talking Craigslist or eBay here.

I got a Dell t3600 with a Sandy bridge Xeon e5 1650 for that amount of money. (Single core performance is on pair with a 4470 but with 6 cores.)

Yeah thats what i was considering, however since im really unlucky when it comes to used stuff (ive bought 2 used laptops on ebay, both died after 3 and 6 months)
Thanks about the workstation models, ill check them out.

I should've said i already have HDs + RAM so i guess the price tag would be even lower.
Thank you too, ill consider both choices, would you say a workstation would be more powerful than an APU based rig? i know they are more powerful CPU wise, but not sure about GPU.

In most workstations there are probably business gpus like old firepros or quadros which are mediocre for gaming purpose. I'll try to get something better used.
