dunno if this is right place but does anyone know of any download managers that'll download a playlist? don't feel like doing over 500 songs individually.. I use offliberty for the odd song but yea.. thanks
youtube-dl can do it, but you have to put in a switch that ignores errors and do something to fudge with the url. I forget exactly how I did it.
youtube-dl.exe https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dfoR61gma5GqLj204FPvL2A2AV5xBHL -i
Couple tries and I re-figured it out. You have to do the playlist?list= thing

Probably would've been more readable if I'd put the switch first.
youtube-dl.exe -i https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8dfoR61gma5GqLj204FPvL2A2AV5xBHL

>.exe
lol.
I use this on my Windows machine:DOSKEY rip_audio=youtube-dl -i --playlist-start $1 --playlist-end $2 --output %(title)s.%(ext)s -x --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 0 --prefer-ffmpeg "$3"
You choose start, end, and give it a playlist link.

>audio-format mp3
wat

You can use whatever it spews out, I just want it to be consistent with the rest of my non-FLAC library. It's a transcode from 156kbps AAC anyway.

But isn't --audio-format simply telling it what to download? Youtube doesn't serve up MP3.
I added that and it gives me Opus.
Anyway, playing around seems that:
--merge-output-format mkv -f bestvideo+22/best
...will get you the highest bitrate AAC if available. I've noticed youtube-dl like to default to Opus because it reads it as some insane 2000kbps+.

Dunno, mine downloads a webbum that ffmpeg then transcodes to MP3.
it werks on my machine
>>55992360
I think it has to be in combination with the --extract-audio (-x) arg
4k downloader
>>55992372
Ah, that does it.
Why the fuck would anyone do this?
>>55992415
Does YouTube have seperate audio and video streams?
>>55992461
Youtube has dozens of formats.
>>55992501
Of course, for the different qualities and webm/mp4 support, I'm dumb.
Alright, so -x --audio-quality 0 --audio-format mp3 simply downloads the Opus webbum and transcodes to mp3.
When I think about it, all my media devices should support Opus, so I should probably leave out the transcode part.
I appreciate all the help & replies, thanks!

which format is better to download from youtube? opus or aac
>>55993535
AFAIK, the AAC in format 22 will be the best if it's available. It can possibly be as high as 256k, though you'll be downloading a video along with it.
