Simply flattening icons and buttons does not make them modern. It makes the designer look lazy, while confusing the user on what is actually interactive surface and what is not.

The thing i hate about flat design is that it didn't remove the skeuomorphism - it just made it look like shit.

Here's a problem with textured design - it can easily look bad. OS X's and iOS UI looked good. Windows Vista's UI looked... okay at least. This sadly looks like shit. Go install a better textured theme.
