How does this work? I heard that it replaces the linux syscalls with the NT kernel ones, I also heard it runs Ubuntu parallel to windows (Like VM, but not).

Just another hack from microsoft. I think the reason microsoft will not create another windows major version is that the NT kernel became such a clusterfuck, making it almost unmaintainable
