Is Pokemon Go a botnet?
No reporting your location info to third party servers is totally a-ok and can't be used in any way to compromise you.
Are you retarded?
Why are you even asking? You know the answer.

With all of the people hacking the game the information can hardly be considered reliable.
Your phone gps data is already reported to the NSA, whats the issue providing that info to others?

Most apps do that already. What is new about this one?
It doesn't has to be. Just turn off your camera and use fake location
On /g/ everything is a botnet, regardless of whether location is required or not. Use google maps? Botnet, but openstreetmap is sooo much better than google. Skype? botnet. Microsoft? botnet. Apple? closed source botnet that is for hipsters. Android? Its a fuckin botnet cause its made by google. The term botnet no longer holds any meaning here.

A botnet would be a robot network. That means a set of computers that are ( unbeknownst to their owners ) computing towards a goal or goals that are determined by the third party bot "herder". So does pokemon go use processing power for nefarious purposes? Probably not... does it mine for data... almost certainly yes. Is that data going to be then sold by the app creator for some shady purpose... only time will tell us.
