Tablets discussion thread.

Swipin.
Replacin.
Looking hip and casual.
"Apps"

Howcome plenty of budget tablets have cheap 16:10 AH-IPS screens bundled into a small computer while monitors have abandoned the excellent aspect ratio and make you pay enough to feed an African family for a year for quality panels?

Who looks worse when sitting around in a café or park: guy typing into his macbook, that guy with gentoo on a thinkpad or the tablet guy?
>>
The tablet guy. The tablet guy looks worst.
>>
Are the surfaces good? Was thinking of picking one up for school as I'd think it be better than a laptop for portability and viewing textbooks.
>>
Anyone running an IDE on a tablet? Developing any relevant languages from your tablet?
>>
So a parent of mine is recovering from severe brain damage and this parent is into photography amongst other things which they can no longer partake in. Any lower-price tablets with dumpy but well designed interfaces and fairly good but simple image editing and organizing software options? Would be nice said tablet: -took full size USB sticks. -took SD cards used in digital cameras and read their format. -expansible memory. -physical keyboard options. -had a good resolution.

It's really good but overpriced.
>>
>>55956301
>full size usb
why? usb-c is so much better. just buy a usb-c tab then get an adapter.
>>
>>55956498
I could go for that. Didn't expect full USB to exist, couldn't see it being complex to implement though size costly.

That's why I was thinking of picking up a used pro 3. The non pro 3 sounds nice now that it runs full windows, but the specs just seem too week.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, but the rules do say discussion of drawing tablets belongs in /g/, and given this thread's topic....

Well, I'm a Canadian who's been shopping around. Physical stores seem to lack options, so I've decided to try buying digitally.

Unfortunately, I'm a moron with little understanding of a lot of terminology, even after reading a link from /ic/'s sticky.
This, if you haven't seen: https://sites.google.com/site/ourwici/#tablet

I was wondering if any of you would be willing to help me figure out what to purchase.

The last time I drew was on paper, in high-school, years ago, and not too well, but I wanna get back into it, and "git gud".

To begin with, I'm hoping to get something with a Built-In Display; I don't like the "mental disconnect" I get from, putting my pen/stylus on one-screen and the lines appearing elsewhere, like with No Built-In Display devices.

I'm very unused to touchscreen-based interfaces; I've used a Nintendo DS & 3DS plenty, but I've never owned a mobile phone or such. So I don't like having to slide-in menus and such, as opposed to clicking icons or typing.

Ideally, I'd want something portable, that I can draw on wherever I am, such as on the bus, but features beyond that aren't important.
I just want to draw, and outside of work and shopping, I don't leave my home too often, so the device having constant internet or other non-art things isn't important.

My budget is about $1000, but I'm willing to go about 1.5 times that.
2048 sensitivity preferred, but I could settle for 1024 with a lot of other good features.
Tilt sensitivity would be great, and whether batteries are needed isn't a concern to me.

Would /g/ be willing to help me, please? Sorry for any trouble, and please and thank you in advance for any help given.
>>
>>55956924
Just wish I could help you atall, bruh.
>>
>>55956924
do you actually use 2048 sensivity? if not, don't bother looking at them, and you should really consider getting one without a display, it just takes time and practice like everything else, but if you really need a display, the ones with built-in display are fucking expensive, a budget of $1000 won't get you that much since you're in canada, so maybe what costs $500 in US will be $700/800 in canada but i'm not 100% sure, so maybe it's the same price, look for used things too, don't buy cintiqs unless you really need them, and keep in mind the cheap cintiq models suck dicks, only the most expensive ones have less problems, also check reviews made from frenden, he has reviews about cintiq alternatives and some of them are really good, check the link:
