Don't do it anon. Basically when you register on a private tracker a personal key is generated. That key is then embedded in whatever torrents you download from the site. The tracker only allows torrents with a valid key to connect, and this combined with IP logging + other security measures ensures your friend will be caught and banned for ratio cheating if you try to use his torrents.

Here is my short experience with private trackers.

I got an account on thegeeks.biz (a tracker for e-learning) as they recently allowed registrations.
The site itself looks pretty bad (old web interface) but that doesnt really mater.
The forums are very boring. Very slow and I dont see any meaningful discussions.
Torrent selection is good but Im not sure how much of there you wouldnt find on public trackers. I just browse for anything that might interest me and download some ebooks.
Then today I find out my account is disabled, I join the irc to ask why, which was handled well and I learn that using a VPN is only allowed for power users (I dont remember what you need to do to become one) even though it doesnt say so in any of the rules which I all read before signing up.
I dont see any significant reason why VPNs would be forbidden and value my privacy and not getting sued, so at that point I decide I dont need the account after all.
