Hey /g/, what do you guys think of this router? I'm moving into a new place and don't want to have to lease a router from the company. Most of the specs are gibberish to me, but I know ASUS is generally a good brand.
And no, Google Fiber is not available in my area. Sadly.

I have an asus rt-n12 with ddwrt, which is trivial to flash to this model, it runs 16 devices flawlessly. If I ever had the need to upgrade I'd definitely go with asus just due to the ddwrt compatibility and overall reliability
meanwhile I have a buffalo whr300-hp2 that I use as a book end, which is actually the most productive use to which it can be put.

Install gentoo on it and ask again.
Rt-n66u is better. Or the tp link c2600 archer.

Anon! You're thinking of a modem I believe not a router. You don't rent routers from internet companies.

Hybrid modem/routers are pretty par for the course these days.
Comcast at least regularly rents those out.
>Most of the specs are gibberish to me
You have 2 options, OP:
1. Familiarise yourself with routers and specs. Maybe try the /g/ sticky.
2. Get pic related, the best 'pre-N' router ever made.
