Welcome to capitalism. If you have money and resources, you can silence anyone and keep them at bay as you get richer.
I'd figure it can successful if they charge less than what the company loses by the downtime.
I'd imagine they're probably very successful until the company uses a CDN to reroute the attack away from themselves

They have to build a CDN themselves.
