When buying a dslr, you're getting a system, not a camera. Camera body is the least important part of your rig. You have to decide which company makes lenses and other equipment that suits your needs in the future perfectly.

In any case, canon is obviously the right choice. There's a shit ton of good lenses to choose from.

The eco system is not a big deal, it never was and it will never be only.

Lenses last forever, bodies last a few years so yes when cosing a DSLR the body is more important since you want it to last at least 3 to 5 years.

I'm actually a photographer by profession, and let me tell you, what you just said is contradictory as fuck. If lenses last forever, and good ones are FAR more expensive than the camera body, how can the latter be more important?
Nigga just get a double digit older canon dslr, and invest more money in lenses. You can easily get a second hand body of the newer generation later.
The system is and always will be the most important factor when deciding what camera to buy, and if you say otherwise, than I dare say you're uninformed as fuck.

A shitload of bodies went through my hand during the years, and guess what - the lenses are still here and still amazing, which can't be said for the eos 300d which was my first digital slr. The only thing about the body that matters is how comfortable it is for you to use, given that you choose a camera that if sufficient to get the job done. Of course, a full frame camera will always be better than a crop body, but that doesn't mean it's better for you (decreases the lens choice). Buy ANY fucking body that you like, the IQ mostly depends on the lens, you wouldn't know the difference between a 450d and an 80d when using a good lens. With cheaper lenses the 450d could actually outperform the more expensive camera in terms of price/IQ by a loooong shot.
