How do you guys enjoy Windows 10 anniversary update?

I think it's rather sleek and I enjoy the new features.

>inb4 linux

No one uses that shit, be real people.

>No one uses that shit
So few people use it, that MS decided to add a Linux subsystem to Windows.

yeah and its 100x more stable and supported by things ppl actually use in day to day life

i was a linux user for the last 10 years because I was fed up of XP back in 2007, at that time not even Ubuntu was fully supported by adobe flash yet and it wasnt long before Adobe stopped supporting it...Flash 11.2 is the last version...the official version is now at 22+ and the HTML5 meme has hardly infiltrated anywhere

even Twitch only JUST finally switched to an HTML5 player a ton of other sites still use flash, including porn sites, and popular video hosting sites that arent youtube

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Goddamn retardation. I'd be on Linux right now if it wasn't for the fact that shit is broken absolutely constantly. Boot up and the wrong audio device is active yet AGAIN. Boot up again and my main audio device is now just missing. Bluetooth doesn't work right, and that's assuming you download the correct Bluetooth stack for your particular window manager (WTF). Linux is great if you do things the same way as all the main devs. Windows still has, by far, the greatest driver support of any OS.

Speculating here, but what you could try is activating Windows 7 properly with DAZ Loader, then turning on something in Accessibility, such as Filter Keys, then downloading and using the Windows 10 accessibility upgrade, which is still free. Activate and check that you have a digital entitlement (well, digital licence they call it now). Then, thereafter, do a clean wipe reinstall without entering a key and hopefully you should be genuine?

I haven't tried this, and don't know if it would work: you'd be trailblazing. If it doesn't, wipe everything, bite the bullet, and
>install Gentoo

(or you could actually just buy Windows 10, I mean, if you're going to use a commercial OS...)

>lifting the path limit
FUCKING FINALLY

Over 20 years to close a bug!

It's an API-breaker for programs that allocated a PATH_MAX buffer, and didn't support UNC Unicode paths, like, say cmd.exe, that's why.

The Action Centre thing is retarded and got insta-killed.

Lxss is comfy, but conhost is still pretty janky compared to the MinTTY fork consoles. What's with the font rendering in conhost? When is it going to upgrade the API of conhost with a flag to get us xterm-256color support? (Current structure is hard-nosed to 16 colours.)

MSYS and Cygwin are now pointless. Needs more work, yes, but a good start.

Nothing of mine broke. No ads. No extra telemetry by default although I do notice - negative change here - Full (recommended) telemetry is the default for new installs, until turned down. I'll have to check if that's the crazy beta Insider-focused screenshot-sender. I think it might be, so turn that shit down to Basic, that's just regular Windows Update.

The update process is extremely clumsy. If they're going to keep doing this, they need to make it seamless, even rebootless, rather than running what is essentially a full reinstall.

some copypasta repurposed for 2016

Imagine a giant penis flying towards your mouth, and there's nothing you can do about it. And you're like "Oh man, I'm gonna have to suck this thing", and you brace yourself to suck this giant penis. But then, at the last moment, it changes trajectory and hits you in the eye. You think to yourself "Well, at least I got that out of the way", but then the giant penis rears back and stabs your eye again, and again, and again. Eventually, this giant penis is penetrating your gray matter, and you begin to lose control of your motor skills. That's when the giant penis slaps you across the cheek, causing you to fall out of your chair. Unable to move and at your most vulnerable, the giant penis finally lodges itself in your anus, where it rests uncomfortably for 4, maybe 5 hours. That's what using windows 10 anniversary is like.

I do agree that Microsoft should've taken more precautions in your case, but if you had any system modifications (like ClassicShell as I mentioned above), then the fault is on the user itself IMHO.

40% is good but keep in mind that the linux userbase is tiny compared to wangblows or osx.
So 40% more users might be just 1000 people for all we know.

There's no point having the information density so high in the start menu. Having smaller targets with no space in between makes them harder to hit.

>40% might just be 1000 people
Except that's fucking retarded and if your math knowledge is THAT bad I don't think you'll understand even if I tried explaining it, but I'm going to anyways
%
1000 people = 2.33%-1.65% = 0.68%
100% / 0.68% = 147
147 x 1000 = 147000 people

You're implying, with your post, that only ~150,000 computers are connecting to google.

Now let's look at some actual statistics

Gartner estimates 2.4 billion computers worldwide. 0.68%of that is 16 million new Linux computers

TL;DR: You're retarded. Shut up and fuck off

>>55919141
You obviously can't read, nor can you comprehend trends.

The information >>55906627 posted CLEARLY indicated 1.65% Linux market share in April 2016, and 2.33% in July 2016.

no u

it went from 1.6% to 2.3%

that isn't 40.0%

40.0% increase would be from 1.6% to 41.6%

This, children, is what a Linux user looks like. Look carefully, because there aren't very many left in the world.

As they have nothing to copulate with and pass down their traditions to, this will likely be the last generation of their once great race. Good.

>Ubuntu ran horrifically slow on my Core i5 - your point is completely invalidated by this fact.

>>55912794
No, it doesn't. Finder is not WindowServer.
It's like saying Nautilus is GNOME Shell/Mutter.
>>55915613
>A window manager being generic enough to also be a file explorer.
No parts of a window manager (except maybe, like, icon rendering?) could be used in a file explorer.
Are you retarded?
>>
>>55920570
>>55912794
Also, if you mean the "shell" (dock, etc) then no. Those also run in separate processes.
