Hey /g/eeks, im starting school in a few weeks and need a new laptop. Seeing as i know nothing about the laptop market, i ask you. Whats a good laptop for me?
By budget is 700€ but it can strech a little bit. I would prefer a 17 inch screen but its not a must. I am planning on doing some light gaming on it, but nothing heavier than league. I dont mind a hdd, but of course an ssd would be superior. I need around 1000gb of storage. Obviously i am going to school with this thing so the trackpad and the keyboard should be passable. I would prefer windows 7 but im ok with 8 and 10. I dont care about the brand. Feel free to ask me if i missed anything.
Please and thank you.

it sounds like you already know what you're looking for. Just go on to newegg or any other reputable website and start checking filters.

LEAVE.
I'm also looking to get a new laptop for my junior year. Something that's good for internet research, writing long papers, and has good memory. Preferably no Appleshit or Windows 10. Something that's also good for gaming would be a nice plus, but it's not essential.

Thank you

When you find something, post it just to confirm. Ignore all OS/troll bs comments. You do not need fucking linux for writing papers. It'll be fine.

You also don't need fucking Windows or fucking OS X for writing papers either

But he's obviously a newb if hes posting these kinds of questions. Apple is out of the question, so why put him on linux? Why not just stick with windows and avoid problems

Why would he not use windows? Linux is good for programmers, freetards, and people with slower computers. Considering he's buying a brand new laptop and wants it for note-taking / light gaming, why would he choose anything other than Windows? I've used a mixture of all OS's over the years and while they're all prone to random fuck ups and crashing, Windows is no more inconvenient or prevalent than the others, assuming your PC isn't utter garbage. What are you defending? Are you trying to convince to him to spend all this money on a PC to use linux? Something that already runs perfectly fine on a potato but has a quarter the support?

Nice choice. I will tell you however league is about all you're going to get out of it. It's a good PC but it's not going to be a screamer by any means. But price to performance, hell yea. I think you'd be happy. Just don't expect to be using it much after 5/6 years

Thanks again
